Trip to Ireland in May.

Ireland in May

Ah! Thanks for the invite richie, we have booked a B+B at or near to Avoca just north of Arklow for the first night. I was thinking of meeting some of the locals when we travel more over to Cork and beyond. But we I have to go with the flow of a holiday for both of us. It`s my second trip to the south west and because there are no motorways the way we are going it`ll be slow and steady.
Will take a look at those addresses you gave me, Ta.

Ireland in May

Hi vireo, well we will head upto Sally Gap from Dublin. I seem to remember a wide Valley and a visiters centre along the way ... Ah! The Military Road to Laragh. Will probably follow the tourist route through The Wicklow Mountains. Find the B+B and drop panniers off and ride a few loops round. But the weather might just skupper the views. :augie
Next day, Wexford and onto Kilmore Quay. Stayed there on the last visit then west to the little ferry crossing. Hope to stay at Yougal the second night.
We are not into the city life so 3 nights down on the south west coast and tour from there. 1 last night in Dublin. Thats the rough idea really. :)

Good, use the M50 to start onto the N81 into Wicklow and then across the Gap into Laragh - watch out, the surface is pretty rough in places, esp. in parts from the Gap to Glenmacnass. Depending on the weather, you might not see much !

If you want to bimble around Wicklow/Carlow, there's an interesting route described here .

On your way from Wexford, you'll pass my house just after you get off that ferry. I've PM'ed a contact number if you need assistance around the time.

Enjoy the week

Ireland in May

Hi folks,
We got back from our trip round the South West of Ireland yesterday. Then on to Shropshire to meet up with a mate for his 50th.
Got to say thanks for those that gave us pointers on where to ride, eat and stay. The weather was better than expected or even forecasted and only on Thursday did we have to ride through heavy rain. Oh! apart from standing in-line for our ferry at Holyhead because our Fastferry had been cancelled ... :blast
Anyway, we had a brill time and will have to come back sometime soon.
