Trouble with oil filter

Yup....the #$@&¥*& thing won't budge.

What's really worry is it has a dent on the underneath of it. It's done 36000 miles. 1150gs. I've not changed the filter as not owned it a year yet.... was a private sale.
Filter wrench keeps slipping...and im running out of swear words to shout at it.

If you nip into kitchen when misses not looking grab a marigold glove stretch this over filter removal cup it will grip filter and make for an effortless removal

Blinding idea... so this is common then as filter looks OEM and i have correct tool?
Must be covert on the kitchen supplies, as got it in the neck when I used the dishwasher to degrease my build project.

If that doesn't work use sand paper in the filter tool.

or

drill 2 holles in tool , put 2 chunky screws thro the holes into filter and ..remove .

It's not just overtightening. If you don't put a smear of oil round the seal it sticks and can be a bastard to remove.

I always use a k&n oil filter as they have a hex welded to the face so you can use a socket or spanner to remove.

I use a chain wrench,

After trying all the poncy deluxe, plier type strappy things, that slip and are generally useless.

I tried a chain wrench, never ever use anything else now

You won't get a chain wrench in there.

As above, sand paper in the filter tool works well.

For the few extra pence use a genuine/mahle filter. Avoid hiflo filters.

K&N oil filters and their pathetic little nut on their biscuit tin thin metal filter body are the worst filters i've ever had to remove.

They've caused me more problems over the years than any other filter fitted.

Neil, I was going to mention about the sheer time and effort you had to put into removing the K&N oil filter from my bike and how you commented how crap they were, especially at removal time if it didn't go to plan.
