After having the car re-mapped I've been thinking about something similar for the 09 gs.
It's not that I'm a speed freak. The car drives so smoothly now with nicer torque and 3 mpg more.
Have read great things about Hilltop tuners but as I'm this side of the water wondered if anyone does similar on our wee Island.

Jacro, I caught the Stena ferry from B'fast to L'pool (Birkenhead) was at Hilltop at 9am had bike done and was back on the Ferry that same evening.

jacro, I've made loads of enquiries about the same. Other than a power commander, it looks like Hilltop is the only real guru.

I've had some car tuners offering to remap at circa £150 in County Antrim. But they've no real knowledge or previous customers who have had a GS done. They get a map emailed from some guy in England. Think I'd rather do a Hilltop.

Myself and another Belfast GSER are planning to go over in Spring. I hope to do a Stena day return.... Overnight to Liverpool and home via Cairnryan, just to get a full day trying out the remap.

Jarco,

i recently ( along with some other guys i know of ) got our bikes remapped by way of ECU using a dyno. There is a very competent individual carrying out ECU flashes in Dublin with the correct software etc. He's without doubt a very good bike technician / mechanic.

Here's the link he has http://www.donedeal.ie/motorbikes-for-sale/motorcycle-ecu-flash-service/8517568?offset=1

I wouldnt recommend if i didnt think it was safe to do so and all above board.

My 1200 Tenere was transformed. The engine can now breathe better, more power, restrictions removed, throttle position / fuelling etc. List is quite long.

It was a no brainer for me, i couldnt recommend him enough.

He has now got all the software for bmw's etc so worth a look if you ask me.

Keep us posted.

The fact that it's fettled on a dyno interests me..... Not a one size fits all operation.

Very interested to hear from someone who's tried it on a BMW.

Hilltop still currently on my wish list, but gonna work out at £500 due to the logistics involved.

Edit.... Just emailed the guy myself. Will share the info I glean from him.

I sent this guy an email, asking if his service would be a generic re-map or something specific to my bike..... 1200 TC with the flappy valve removed and Cat-erectomy due in the very near future
(I also asked could he reset my service light as the bike is now out of warranty, home serviced with my new Haynes manual)

Here's the reply........ Price dependant, I'm really tempting to give it a go if the bike is fettled on a dyno.

""We should be up and running with the BMW software in a couple weeks . So yes custom mapping will be available . With the mods you have a custom map would be a must rather than a generic flash . Yes to date I have diagnostics for the BMW range and can reset your service light /set interval.

Interesting!
I e mailed him myself but got no reply, so far.
Think I'll give him a call sometime to find out his background and equipment used.

I was hearing more good things tonight about this guy, but no word on any BMW's yet. Did you speak with him Jacro?

Anyone else on here tried this yet?

I got my Cat removed today, so I'm busting to have things set up just right.

I got my 1200 Tenere done. Best mod Ive ever done to ANY bike. Gary knows his stuff, trust me....ive seen his work over the yrs. He does not cut corners.

Anyway, he replied to you there this mroning, I had heard you were looking for him. Check your inbox.

Best of luck with it, you wont be disappointed :thumb2

Does this re-mapping malarkey have any come back with insurance?

Don't tell them, would be my advice.

If the dealers can't tell that you've had it remapped - the insurance won't.

I got this email from Gary this morning..... So I'm gonna give it a go on the first suitable date providing the price is right. ........

""Yes we now have software and hardware needed for bmw ducati and Aprilia ecu flash/edit.
At the moment we are doing some testing on some gs and f models .

I have a week off next week so I won't get much done as I am away .
I understand you would like to get the bike sorted sooner rather than later . As soon as we have finalised some structure to our flashes I will let you no .
I have a good few enquiries for gs and f models to date so the sooner the better we get sorted .
I have your contact details saved so ill be in touch soon ""

havent been on the site for a while Betty, new baby.
I got no reply to enquiries.
Let me know what the price is and any other info and maybe we could take a run down together in a month or so.
Cheers

Hi Betty.

Gary had my bike in last Sat from 10am to 2pm. Ran it on the dyno, removed and improved things in the ecu dept.
Sent me away with the readings from before and after. Also a big smile as I rode home on a few B roads.
Very good service, well pleased.
Pay in euro so S10 for under £250.

Hope this give you confidence to use him. His place is just south of the airport so easy to get to.

Congrats on the new Baby.... :beerjug:

Will keep you posted on the updates etc. Spoke with one of our Dublin based GSers who suggested the price was in the region of 300 YoYos, so good exchange rate for us at present.

Any updates on this? I'd be interested to hear if people have had the remap done and what kinda figures you had before and after and the noticeable changes.
