i might downsize from the 1200gsa to release a bit of cash for a sailing dinghy ,so thought i might get a x challenge .
i really like the xt660 z tenere but its the vibes everyone keeps going on about that put me off.
so does the x challenge vibrate bad enough for whie finger, adn what is the diameter ot the hole centres on the shock ,not to keen on an air shock

Vibes are not a issue, wind, seat, height and power maybe! (Coming from a GSA)

I have a form off Carpal tunnel and have ridden mine to Spain in standard form (no vibe issue but most of the above)

Can't give you the measurements but tbh the air shock isn't that bad for moderate use. It's limitations for me where heavy luggage and fast off road use.

power is not a problem ,the most touring i ever did was on my 350 aprillia tuareg ,rode it every where to portugal and back 3 times in one year overloaded, and flat out .
allso had a road king so used to going slow :D
cheers mick i may look at one .

The X-challenge is a very different animal to the bike you had, even in terms of engine size. It's about as hardcore as a BMW 650 is going to get in terms of offroadability (yes, not a real word). I have a GX and I love her to bits but maybe you'd be better looking to a G650gs or Sertao? It's more inline with what you've had and is a very smooth ride compared to the GX.

I have a 1200gs and a XC too your right both very different bikes both great :)
but having said that the XC will cruse all day at 85mph just like the 1200 and I can carry all the camping gear I carry on the 1200 on the XC the only downer is the fuel tank as I only get about 100 miles per tank on the XC

Cheers
Eddie
