Has anyone used Ride-on tyre sealant ? ....Also can these sealants be used without effecting the tyre pressure monitor ? (2012 GSA).

I have Puncturesafe in mine no problems with pressure monitors. It's a little more money than the easily available stuff but won't rot the alloy rims if the paint gets damaged.

My GSA had sealant already in when purchased from the dealer, the tyre monitors failed, the cause being the said sealant, lucky for me, they agreed to replace FOC under warranty , my advice therefore, don't.

Puncturesafe is good but on our G650GS which has valves mounted in the spokes rather than the rim it has gummed up both spokes so that we couldn't get air in or out of the tyre. For that reason I would never use with any kind of electronic in wheel pressure monitor, or ever again on the G650GS.

Mine has at least 2000 miles on the rear tyre with puncture safe no problems. The front has no goo but the TPS is playing up.

I used Slime in my Diversion 900 tyres & got a shock when I changed the tyre. Every scratch inside the rim (presumably from tyre levers) had corroded into blobs of goo.

Puncture safe told me that latex is corrosive to aluminium but they don't use it for exactly that reason. I've had a non treated rear tyre virtually blow out so used the stuff to avoid that or at least slow it down so I can stop safely.

Puncturesafe also said the police use their stuff and their bikes have TPS monitors with no problems.

Time will tell but I prefer to take the small risk on the TPS than the bigger risk of a sudden flat on the rear tyre.

A small pluggable puncture won't damage the tyre carcass. In tyre sealants do the same job as a plug so could be a solution (sic) looking for a problem.

A puncture big enough to be unpluggable won't be stopped by a sealant, but that sort of hole can rip and blow out. The advantage of a goo is slowing the decompression rate. The tyre will probably be scrap anyway but at least I would get some warning before its gone completely flat and causes a crash.

As said the Police use Puncturesafe so how harmful can it be?
