Tyre Test

I got two pairs of the Bridgestone A40s for £126 a pair when they had the £50 off offer. Got the first pair fitted for £126 and the second pair ready to have fitted for free when the first pair wear out.
I think they are a good tyre, in fact I prefer them to the Michelin Pilot Trail 4 I had previously and for the money I paid, great value.
The test above sort of confirms that there are not many really bad tyres about these days.

They must have improved. I had them on my Mutistrada and they were "average" at best...

I'm going to buy the "Maximum score" tyres next time they look good. What make are they?

Sure that BMW must get a huge discount from Michelin to make them standard fitment, seriously can anyone with the Pirelli Scorpion Trail 2's give any kind of idea of rear mileage

Funny that the joint 5th place tyres are currently out of stock. Although I have only ridden about 400 miles on the Tourance Next fitted last week, I already know I prefer them to the Anakees.

Had Pirelli scorpions on Multistrada. Superb grip when new, but wear was very quick, especially the front. Had to be replaced as a pair by 2700miles...and by 2k handling had dropped away badly.
Oh dear, the Anakees don't come out well at all! Why on earth are they standard fitment then? I've never had any handling issues with them, but have noticed that they are quite loud.
Question is, which of these will fit on a GSA with the mudsling fitted?

I'm disappointed they didn't include Avon Trailriders in this test. Quite a few on this forum like them, including myself. I would have liked to see how they compare.

I had the Scorpion 2s on the 800 when it was new gripped well wore fast and caused head shake on the overrun from new I was glad to get rid of them after 3000 miles
Changed to Anakee 3s grip the same wearing better done 6000+ miles now and just starting to pick up the white lines and no head shake

Scorpion 2s 3000 miles on a wheezily under powered F800GS and they were well past their best weaving all over on anything but perfect road but still gripped ok in the corners
I've just ordered a new rear trailrider, I've not had a better tyre, I'm going to Brighton on Sunday which will most likely be the end of the rear, no real sign of issues with the front
By the time I get it changed mid week it will have covered 6000 miles which is good for me my last Anakee did 4500

I assumed from the test and various bits of media blurb I have read that the scorpion trail 2's are completely different fron those fitted as To the multistrada and are now significantly improved - or have I got this wrong?
I was also surprised at the down marking for TA2's in the wet as I have been using them for about three years and have always found them quite confidence inspiring in the wet ( as well as the dry).

You right the ones I had on the 800 were the trail not the new and improved 2s I might give a set a try next they cant be any worse than the original trail and if the review is right they could be ok
Great review certainly reflecting my experience of two of the tyres, had two sets of Metz on my 2013 and got on really well with them in both wet & dry road conditions, the Anakees supplied on my 2016 are simply dreadful, after 2.5k they developed a loud whining on some surfaces and don't feel comfortable on many roads.
Never wanted a set of tyres to wear out so much they are starting to spoil the bike, to the point of considering simply replacing for a set of Metzler.
