Hi all. Still relatively new to this boxer thing....

21 R1250GS; front is wearing on the sides more than the centre, rhs worse than the left. Bike had 8000kms on when I purchased it last September so assuming the worst that the tyre was on since new. I've 13000kms up now. Majority (over 80%) two-up.

Not concerned about the wear rate per se, rather the apparent non-symmetry of it.

Forgot to say it's Michelin Annakee

@DJ123 Yea there is but not as bad. As I said 2up I expect the wear it's the one side more than the other has me a bit bothered. I've read some stuff about the telelever suspension set up of GS's causing tyre wear but this looks like something is off.

They are horrible tyres..

Get shot of them & I'm amazed they've lasted that long - well sort of lasted judging by the pics they should have gone long ago.

front tyres often wear more on the right due to the camber of the road, you dont tend to notice the un even wear til over half worn

As I said I'm only assuming the worst in that they may have been on the bike from new. Its entirely possible the front was changed since. The rear had about 200kms only done when I bought the bike. The front was well thick with thread but the seller didn't mention anything about it at the time. Its only in the last 6/700kms or so I've noticed the wear was more on the sides than centre, and more on the right than left. I'll be getting new tyres soon, 2up will do that for you. I was just curious/concerned about the wear pattern.

Are your tyre pressures correct?

Low pressure or overloading the bike can cause the wear you describe

Looks similar to the wear on my CTA3's as they wear down through the tread. End up with ridges on either side, and a flat spotted middle.

Checked every trip. Maybe 2.3/4 bar sometimes rather than the 2.5 bike suggests for 2up. But otherwise there.

You've managed to describe the effect in one sentence, that took me 3 whole posts to do.

Wear on the right hand side of a bike tyre is normal, due to roads being crown-cambered, i.e, the camber slopes down from the centre of the road.

Ride on the continent to even things up 😁

…. Michelin Annakee
Those pics don’t look like “normal” Anakee wear to me. I’ve run two sets for over 15,000M.
The front tyre tends to “peak” over time, but shouldn’t feather.
The feathering on one side suggests something’s out-of-alignment.
