Bought my 1200gs in Feb, fitted with Dunlop Trailmax, I was "disappointed" I had Tourance on my previous GS and I was very impressed, I heard bad things about the Trailmax. Well, after 5000 miles I can totally recommend the Dunlops, BUT, I have decided to go back to Tourance, got them changed today, It was like coming home, I love them and always will. I was told not to expect any more than 3500 miles from the Dunlops, crap mine still had life in them at 5k and I ride hard, changed them in preparation for 3k trip coming up and good deal at Bahnstormer. So what am I saying? no idea, they are both superb tyres, my preference is obvious.

Ride well and ride safe. :beerjug:

I,m with you on the tourances i have heard of GS,s running tourance rear and Anakie on the front havnt tried this though.Cheers Geoff

Sounds a terrible idea, you need a matched pair but maybe that mix will work- but I wouldn't try it. The Dunlops won't last as long as the Tourances but they grip much better on tarmac. I never liked the anakies but then I only ride on road and want the best wet weather grip. I'd recommend Conti Road Attacks, Mich Road Pilots or even BattleWings as I found they all suite the GS well for my style of riding but it's a personal thing.

GS Tyres

Howdy all, it would be nice if icould find a tyre somewhere between a Metzeler Tourance and a TKC 90 any ideas.:blast

Now there's the million dollar question, I'd be interested to hear the answers
to that one.

Used Rubber

My 1200 came with Anakees and I hate them- going to go back to the Tourance which felt great on the 1150..
G,day Wully, i wore out aprox 12 rear tourances on my 1150 in (85thou klms)
now on the fifth on my GSA... maybe i should buy some of their shares...nearly shed a few tears when i sold my 1150, but now love the GSA....can throw it round in the dirt (with half a tank of juice) like my old XT600, feels light compared to 1150.....i wonder if Charlie Boermanwill moan about how heavy his bike is this time....:beerjug:

I like the tourance. as for grip, they did really well over the past couple of weeks all round the Alps, Dolomites, Nurburgring etc and they're still going really strong. Discovered my centrestand isnt decking out after all, its the sidestand.

Nice to see a tyre worn evenly on middle and sides you must of had fun on your ride.....

Have you tried the Avon Distanzias? A few recent threads here have raved about them. I am booked in to get a pair fitted as the TKCs (as in TKC80s ... I assume thats a typo, as not aware of any TKC90s) dont last long on the bitumen.

I have just changed my tyres and fitted the Conti Road Attacks.

I've had 2 sets of Tourances and have been really happy with them. They always surprised me with how good they were on the road, but I thought I'd go for a road tyre this time, as I'm not venturing off road.

The Road Attacks are just about scrubbed in now, and they are absolutely brilliant. Superb grip and feedback, and give enough confidence to have zero chicken strips after only a few miles.

Highly recommended :D
