OK I know that I am about to open Pandora's box but this particular request is based on my ignorance...so pretty please...

Mrs C and I plan to take our bikes to Morocco next year and whilst it wont be 'off road' per se, I dont expect the best of tarmac either.

So....would we be better of equipping the 2 GSs (yes Mrs C rides one too) with knobblies?

Is so, which ones (this is the bit where I know the lid is coming off)? :hide

I went twice on road tyres, without mishap, including up and down the road to Zumi (the town made of sh1t) or however it's spelt.

The road surfaces are by-and-large fine and have often been down worse in the UK and on minor roads in France and Spain. On the two trips we saw anyuthing from HD's, FireBlades, to C90's, to replicants of the Paris-Dakar. We even bumped into a bunch of Americans on BuMW RT's all on a guided trip.

Do you intend to go 'Off road' hard for hours and hours or spend days in the sand? If no, go on road tyres. If Novice can manage, your mum could do it.

I've ran the TKC's on my bike for a few months, through heavy rain and bright sunshine, from motorways to rocky trails.
I was so very impressed at there all round ability, I'm happy to run them pretty much everyday.

Just my pennies worth:rob

+1 on that. I'm just about on my 3rd rear and 2nd front. Pretty happy with their overall performance allround. They obviously wear a bit faster than road tyres but suit me fine.
