I went to the NEC on the first Monday with a shopping list which included some custom made in-ear monitors, after years of using the very good Shure EC2's. There were a number of stands supplying In-Ear's, but I wanted to go with a name I knew, so I gravitated towards the Ultimate Ear guys.

After studying the options, I chose to go with the 'tubed' type, where the speakers are set within the wiring and two tubes take the sound up to the ear plug. I guessed this configuration would stand up to repeated putting on/removal of helmet better than the fully wired version. This may or may not be the case, but it was what I wanted. I was told that If I used them for music there would be a slight degredation of sound quality.

My next question was, do you do a discount for UKGSER's? Without hesitation, not even a hint of 'oh if we must' the answer was certainly sir. Our own Judge then introduced himself and continued with the moulding procedure. I was told my monitors would be dispatched within 28 days. Well today, only two weeks later, they were delivered.

First impressions are of a very high quality product. The cabling is armoured, with sheathed joints that look like they will stand up to the rigours of repeated use reliably. The fit is perfect as you would probably expect from moulded plugs, but I have heard of poor fitting in-ear's before. As for sound, well all I can say is UE must have high standards if they call this 'sound degredation', I have no issues with it.

So............In my experience, an excellent product, a reasonable price, and a brilliant service. Nice one Judge, thanks very much:thumb2

Unfortunately, myself and my two colleagues, had a very different experience with this company at the NEC.
The fella on the stall (on Monday) was a right arrogant git, with zero ‘people skills’.:nenau

Mind you, we were trying to haggle a discount, so maybe we pissed him off a bit.:mmmm

Anyhow, we all ended up buying a similar product from Silent Riders, at half the price.

OK, I cant comment on the finished product yet, as I’m still awaiting delivery.:augie

Thanks for the very kind comments we aim to please KMD.

I stand by comments on the sound quality as I am a regular user of both products and there is a noticable difference but my acoustic monitors are my product of choice for on-bike use and they are a great product, just not as good as the electrical monitors which I use off-bike.

Glad they exceeded your expectations :thumb2

I have to say even I was a little surprised at the turnaround! We had our first satisfied customer come back to the show at the end with his finished products!

I knew we were hitting 3 week turnaround before the NEC and that efforts were being stepped up to maintain this with work going back to the lab regularly throughout the show.

As to your personal experience Yonkyo I wouldn't describe any of the 3 possible candidates who could have been on the stand that day as having zero people skills or being arrogant but if thats how you perceived one of us.

Having said that Indecisive's picture might suggest otherwise :augie so feel free to 'out' me if necessary.

For my part my absolute confidence in what we are trying to achieve as a company and the quality we are looking to deliver in our products I myself might come over as cocky, self-assured, confident and I guess to some that may sound like arrogance :nenau

All I know is only 3 companies (out of the 7 there) were there selling CE certified products that can legally be sold in Europe as hearing protectors for Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and we're one of them and of those 3 the best attenuating products by some significant margin was ours.

Indecisive would just tell you I'm plain miserable but as I try to tell him that's only when he is around :D

Feck - if I knew you worked there I would have tried to haggle a bit with getting mine repaired. Just had a phone call looking for credit card.

All the same, £46 (inc special delivery) is not bad to have the cables redone but this time for the armoured type, not just the normal wires I got last year.

My very same experience earlier this year, even the missus had no complaints, thats got to be a first :D

I was fully expecting to wait at least the 28 days Judge, given the fair assumption you'd have a lot of extra work on resulting from the Show. Delivery at this early stage evidences the effort made by the company, and it is appreciated.

Perhaps someone can email me? I've been waiting months for a reply from UE about a repair to mine. Not impressed.
