Guys... I'm currently in Tralee, ROI and a long way from home in Plymouth, UK and more importantly a long way from the 2 nearest BMW dealers over here.
My issue is that despite my bike only doing some 4,000 miles a fine crack has appeared around the circumference of the stock Anakee rear tyre that my bike arrived with :( The crack is located pretty much dead centre of the tyre as you look at it from behind ie where contact is made with the road when upright.
Now, should I be worried, especially as I'm here for another week with another 750 or so miles to do.... and more importantly the 2 yr warranty is up on the 17th of this month.
Any advice or help would very much be appreciated!!
The bike is a GSA TE...

My Anakee tyres did the same. Just a fine crack all the way round. I noticed the same on a friends Tracer as well, so it's not just the Anakee. They'll be fine.

For peace of mind, stick a quick picture on here, and I'll confirm if it's the same as on mine.:thumb

Is it possible it is damage rather than a crack ?

There will be a pair of numbers on sidewall of tyre; 4715 which means tyre was manufactured in week 47 of 2015.

There is no good reason why a tyre should show such wear after 4,000 miles.

I would also inform tyre manufacturer too, anakee 3 ?

Thanks for your reply Nutty... I didn't take a pic and to be honest I wouldn't know how to post on here :(

Thanks for your reply... I don't think it's damage as its not linear ie it's not a straight line. It appears as if its splitting in half but not in an even line? I'm hoping to pop into Cork as a last resort whilst on my way back to Rosslare next week if the consensus is that it should be "okay"?

Thanks for your advice...

Does it look a bit like this, but more uniform/ straight, and in the centre?

If it's what I think it is, it is an anti static strip believe it or not and is quite normal on lots of Michelin tyres.

Obviously I've not seen the offending tire but my first thought was the same as mrtee43

The anti static band can look quite alarming some times

What is the relevance of the 2 year warranty about to expire in your opening post, do you think tyres are covered by the manufacturers warranty?

Yes it does and at various points the crack leads to small points of "disintegration". Sorry, edited to state that it's not uniform or straight but pretty much looks like the pic.

If the tyre has a history of fault I would expect some redress lol.

Thanks... I don't think it's that and it wasn't there when I left Plymouth last week.

The crack as per my picture just suddenly appears one day. Mine also appeared while away, so I just popped into a tyre shop, and they confirmed it was normal. Maybe see if you can find a tyre fitter tomorrow, just to be on the safe side.:thumb

There is a H😃nda dealer here in Tralee so I think I'll pop down in morning to be on the safe side. What did you do in the long term?
