any ideas how to ping a telephone system when we do not know it's ip address?
is there some software we can download??cheers

yes that ok for giving me the one that connects to bt etc?
i am looking for a telephone system on our network and the telephone guys have lost it's ip address so we cannot see it on our network?

If the telephone has an 'asset id' or 'device name'...something that identifies it, then cant you reverse ping it to get the ip address?

I have no idea if it would work on a phone (but assuming as it's using an IP address it must be using a port I guess it should) but you could try something like this:

I use "angry ipscanner" .. it is simple and works ...
several antivirus apps detect these as hacker tools so may cause you a problem (block it /delete it)... esp if it is a commercial site ..
