After 3yrs I fancy a change from riding my ST1100 through the winter. Suzuki's V Strom looks a nice bike, anyone have any experiance of these and the build quality?

Nice bike, good engine, rides well and more capable off-road than most think once soft suspension and protection soorted out.

After a year of winter riding though, it'll look like something that has crept out from a Tramp's arse and died in the gutter :(

Both the 1000 (Vee) and 650 (Wee) Stroms are brilliant bikes. Needs a fender extenda to save the engine cases and they do need care to keep them looking reasonable.

There is a huge amount of information about them on Advrider.com where it's a very popular bike (among a large number of people). Any mod you can think of has probably been documented and there will be a ton of people who have put a lot of miles on them. Just check out the 'Beasts' forum: http://advrider.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=5

Must admit I considered one for a bit as my first bike but went with a Kawasaki ER-6 and then upgraded to the 1150GS instead.

I had the wee strom before i stepped up to gs 1200 , not knocking the strom though great reliable bike that never let me down , However I never rode it in winter and you do have to keep on top of it for rust spots etc ,
try v-strom.co.uk lots of help on there :D
