In Guru Gora’s for sale advert he mentions that he had needed two lambda sensors replacing. Which reminded me.
On my V85TT (also a 2019), last year I started getting errors popping up which a code reader ID’d as one of the lambda sensors. Sometimes an ignition cycle cleared it, sometimes the code reader was needed to clear it. External inspection showed slightly iffy wiring which a fiddle with and some tape seemed to delay the error message appearing but not a fix. I lived with it until I put the bike up for sale. I couldn’t sell the bike knowing it was likely an error message would pop up soon after selling it.
lambda sensors can be bastards to remove so I bit the bullet and bought a proper removal tool, some good quality penetrating oil, and watched some videos. Top tip here was double clamp your tool with a couple of jubilee clips to stop it opening up.
Tool… A sealey set, Yes you can get cheaper but I thought I’d go for a good brand to do a tough job. One of my sons will inherit it.
Lambda Sensor…..Bosch 0258006731 - Lambda sensor with vehicle-specific connector https://amzn.eu/d/0bc9SXcn. £50 instead of £200+ from Guzzi. Identical part. (This is for a 2019/E4 bike, it may be different for later bikes).
Oil….bulldog bdx is my choice, but there’s loads.
Heat…. Cheapo heat gun I’ve had for years. On HOT!
In the end both sensors came off easy enough, I swapped them over just to check the fault followed the sensor - it did. New one in and no faults coming up.
