School bikes

I dont mean to rub it in, but i walked in there for a cooffee just before crimbo, got mugged,:blast and came out with a GS 650, 750 miles on the clock, slight plastics damage, and a sweet little runner.:thumb they even came to collect me from my house to pick it up this morning:clap

So sorry to disagree, i think they are a great bunch of guys!!:JB

I went there ages ago and matey said and these figures might be wrong but they sell 1 in 6 bikes sold in the UK as a dealer... that's one hell of a lot of bikes. that's about 600+ bikes a year 2 bikes a day.... at 8K+ each...:eek:

by the law of averages there will be a mistake thank heavens I've never had any they even helped in dealing with BMw to get my slightly damaged bike fixed...:augie

so I would say out of all the dealers I've dealt with they get stuck in and do a good job....:thumb2

Well, I've bought loads of bikes from them over last 12 /13 years and was alyways happy with the service.

The off road bikes sell themselves but i would'nt want one.

So sorry to disagree, I think they are selective on who they offer that kind of service to :rob

I bought my bike from them back in Feb 2008. When I picked up the bike, I went to the service desk and tried to book the first service. You know that sketch in Little Britain .. "the computer says NO". The lady on the service desk was a splitting image of that. I came up with about 4 suggestions of how to make it work (i.e. allow me to book the bike in and get them to service it).

What annoyed me most was when I was back a couple of weekends afterwards, a bloke was taking delivery of his GSA. The person (not the sales guy) offered him a couple of my suggestions as to how to get the bike back for the first service. The old man was still hesitating ..

So anyway .. I realised then that they wanted the unit sales from me but didn't actually want me as a customer. So I have gone somewhere else for all my services since.

So you are in the demographic that they like, whilst Finn, like me isn't in that demographic :rob

Vines worked for me:thumb

In December 2007 I wanted to buy a XChallenge, so rang them

Spoke to Duncan and he offered me a couple of bikes, all ex BMW Bracknell staff bikes with <500 miles and were 'as new'. (Not ex School bikes:D)

Chose a bike and they emailed me many detailed pics of said bike

Haggled a bit over the phone and agreed a deal and they did the 1st service before I picked it up

Fair price for a fair bike that was 3 months old

Came down with my Van between Xmas and New Year and picked it up

Paid by Switch

No fuss, no drama - bike was exactly as detailed

Bought a bike and got a bike

Everytime I've needed something, they have been fine

Naturally I use Rainbow in Yorkshire mostly because they are more local, however they had no XChallenges and there was no point in them buying one in from another dealer, just to sell to me in this instance

Rainbow have serviced that bike and my others and so I have no experience in that aspect from Vines

I think you hit the nail on the head there .. they want to be the largest sales volume dealer in the country but they are more selective on who they want in their shop using the other stuff. Given the school bikes are limited/special stock, they probably give it to the "special" people.

I think maybe Finn and I smell funny :D

I will go back to them if I want to buy something and if their price is right get it. Then have the servicing done at the better place. Now that I know what their policy is, I don't get so upset.

i bought an offroad school gsa this time last year, from vines,
made an enquiry, went to look at the bike when it came in,bought it,used vines for service parts and clothing since on a regular basis,no complaints from me,but then i treat them as a would want to be treated myself, you reap what you sow etc.so when i wanted panniers and top box alex went out of his way to trace second hand pannier racks at a v good price, andy in the parts did me a cracking deal on the rest.

tom go figure as they say

btw,off road school bike a very good buy for me,a bike to ride in all weathers without needing to polish the tits off it,but if thats your bag then fine.

Another happy Vines customer here. And you get 'mad as a hatter' Penny thrown in for free!

I shall miss Darrens dry, scathing looks when I go in asking for a replacement part for something I've rounded/snapped/melted etc :D

the schools bikes as I understand are allocated buy a kind of dealer auction, they (vines) know the market and bid in such a way they can sell them on. after all they don't try to be largest reseller they are the largest as far as I'm aware in volume of sales for BMW's. From that fact alone they have to do deals and deals can be made with them, but it's give and take. if they bought bike they can't sell'em for less than they've paid for them. In all my dealings they have all been pretty simple I want.... they give a price... I say well how's about this, that etc..... and the deal is done if possible...

I don't think they have an ethnic, demographic or even a geographic policy if that was the case they'd never let me back into the building or the bloke that delivers bikes all over the shop would have an easier life....

They've even helped me get a bike for a mate who wanted a KTM they trawled the trade ins from other dealers, found the bike and had it delivered.

:thumb2

I'm gonna pop in there tomorrow as I still want a 450... never got to ride the one I bought last year...:blast

They have so many customers it's hard to make time in the service department, you have to book it, after all they don't know how many miles your gonna do. I leave them to it, they'll come get the bike, bring it back. or if they have one let me have a loan bike if it fits better for me to drop it off. On the whole bikes are in and out of that place like popcorn in a hot pan.

I would recommend that you either talk to them and you'll get a straight answer, as the school bikes are in and out in a hurry cos theya re good value, the last time I did a deal with them they said these will be gone within a very short time. So if you really want one it's either £500-1,000 as a deposit 2 months before they come up, or you take your chances with everybody else that tends to focus people's attention.

Dyslexic people are ok for them :D

not just dyslexic but also flawed in many other ways....:blast

the way you defended them in the paragraph above shows me that you know exactly what you are up to .. even when you "appear not to".

So stop with the act already :D

I also like Bahnstormers as a dealer but they did'nt have the bike I wanted...

the dealer I hate is Park Lane 3 visits of chance thought I'll pop in there for a look...I'm already here...

Short of ringing up the item on the till and getting the change myself, I could not get or find anyone to take my money...:blast

toffy nosed chinless wankers

Can i just say, i was not one of the chosen few or a 'special' person....i just happened to walk in the day that they were being delivered. Hey! I got lucky, all the bike staff know me in there and know what i like. It their job. Thats why i go back and i ride BMWs and not other stuff
If this time next year my Mrs isnt riding it much or doesnt like it, i'll let you have first dibs!
