I read that the same way as well...![]()

Not meant as it reads, but at least it brought some humour back to the thread!![]()
I had a whole year to look forward to first dibs
autogs is right....................
You reap what you sow
Dealing with a dealer is a bit of give and take and getting to know them
It's all about realistic negotiation
Unrealistic negotiation and they think you're a tyrekicker, so they lose interest quickly
Plus when you know the deal is right, you have to close it
'Indecisiveness' in a buyer is a classic weakness
2. What I dislike are companies that offer services selectively to their customer base
Did I mention you, Tom?
I only quoted autogs
Reading your description of events and the inability to do the first service, with an option suitable to yourself, I know what i would have done
Told Alex to keep his 12GSA and put it back into stock and promptly walked out............
Can't service a bike on a Sat, as it has to cool down to check the valves.............how long do they want for it to cool down?
Are they going to change the oil from a cold engine too................complete bollox
Tom, I wasn't quoting you
You should have bought elsewhere in the UK
So how long do you think they should wait for the engine to cool sufficiently for the valve clearance to be set.
1hr
2hr
3hr
and is the customer going to wait this long
Also why change the oil on a cold engine.
Just adjust the valves - engine cold
start engine and warm it up
then --- change oil.
I think this is not the issue though.
It seems that the salkes staff in Vines will do anything for a sale but the service staff will not back it up.
I had the same problem - promised a free first service by sales but then not honoured by the service dept.
Have not been back since.
sales staff in any business will over promise and under deliver by a margin, after all they are sales people and it's all about margins. Sales people as I understood it, are there to push the product out the door, when I did it (different industry) we got told don't worry about the good stuff concentrate on selling the crap.
Service personal are different creatures they work in facts and figures, (I now work in the service industry) they have to be more black and white or there is no order.
It's the way of the world...
Why should any dealer be any different. If Park Lane was the last BMW dealer in the UK and I wanted a BMW, I'd go to germany and buy it there.

the schools bikes as I understand are allocated buy a kind of dealer auction, they (vines) know the market and bid in such a way they can sell them on...... QUOTE]
The Off Road Skills school bikes are subject to a dealer auction but are sold as job lots - you can't pick and choose which bikes to buy. This year there were 3 separate lots.

well that's the best guess I've ever made...so whoever bid more won the bikes...then how many where there as a matter of interest? Cos we'll be able to workout the approximate cost with a simple calculation.
like one. If the HELMET fits WEAR IT. PAL
