Another cracking Chinese bike for peanuts.
Same engine as the F900GS for a huge chunk less.
Only £8999 fully loaded with three box luggage !!!
Why would you buy a 900 GS when you could have this fully loaded with luggage for £3k less than a base GS !!

Two alternative reviews

A fully farkled GS is £5k more and that still doesn’t include any luggage or a heated seat , which is not an option.

That does look impressive.
I had a loaner 900GSA a few weeks back & I liked the engine. Might have to investigate one of these. Thanks.

Is 9 grand really a bargain?

It's not that cheap.

Plus value will be little if wanting to trade in. I'll let others investigate first.

See if the quality is there or not.

The quality is there.
Many manufacturers such as KTM and BMW make bikes in China .
Some people (not you ) need to take off the blinkers . Times are changing .

£9k ain’t cheap but it is compared to what BMW or KTM charge ……

Depreciation on the Voge will be off a cliff
Until the blinkered muppetry stops.

Popped into P and H in Crawley yesterday . Was speaking to the boss and he said they are having a big change shortly .
Never seen so few KTMs in there . He said they are stopping selling them as zero buyers . Interesting as P and H used to have dozens of the same model all lined up with sold stickers on them at the start of the season.
I asked him where the CF Motos were as I wanted to see the 450 MT and he replied that they had sold every last one of all the ranges .
Order a 450 MT today and you might just see it by August 2025.

Seems the UK public are wising up. This forum will only be a few years behind 😜🤡

If you compare with a good used bike in today's cheap market, probably not that much of a bargain, if you account for depreciation on it.
😏

There’s a lot of stuff in that price range made in China with a lot of electronic gismos that the likes of BMW charge for. My experience of stuff in that bracket isn’t good. I bought a cheap quad brand new but I couldn’t keep up with the constant break downs. They say things are different now. But that’s what I was told 15 years ago. JJH

But that’s always been the case with any bike.
You can’t really compare new with used as the used buy will always seem better, but you have to factor in warranty etc .

All I know is times are changing .
I can see major manufacturers such as KTM not being here in a couple of years , or at least having to undergo radical restructuring to survive .

I’ve probably owned more new KTMs in the last 25 years than anybody else on here but I can assure you I’ve bought my last .

I can also safely say that there’s an extremely high chance that my next bike will be made in China.

Even if you buy one that isn’t. Most of the parts will have been made there. JJH

Exactiy . Yet the blinkerati would rather pay an extra £5k for a BMW roundel * on the tank.

*other over-priced tat is available

I have a Chinese bike (Kove 450 Rally). Great bike so far, but, I do wonder if I'll be able to get parts in 5 or 10 years.
I think with Honda, BMW etc. that's not really a concern.

But as we've said before, it's not where it was made (never was).

It's about the quality control.

I sell Chinese made parts, and there's a large swing in quality.

They aren't known for quality as yet, but they are known for ripping off others intellectual property and making it with cheaper materials.

Time will tell.

Check out Chinese High quality folding knives.

They are very very good.

But when you take into account you’ve spent at least 5k less up front the worse depreciation isn’t such a bad factor.
It only comes into effect if you want to go back to a mainstream bike later.but you can’t have your cake and eat it.

I have to agree on this rather valid point.

Slightly on a different subject, yet still motoring related. Please don't shoot me.

The New Volkswagen Transporter (T7 for all I care) as VW called it, is based on a new chassis developed in partnership with Ford (Custom). The VW using Ford Engines, Gearboxes, etc. VW just slapped their own badges, minor interior tweaks and some exterior differences that are unique to VW only.

Why have VW done this?

Transporter has been manufactured in Germany (Hanover) for a long time, in automotive terms, it is equivalent to 100 years (probably) and the original T5 (launched in 2003) along with T5.1, T6, and T6.1 all share same chassis, doors, etc. The differences among the 4 "generations" of this van, were the new facelifts every 5 years, bumpers, alloy wheels, and rear light clusters, Otherwise you could fit a 2024 T6.1 barn doors onto a T5 from late 2003 and one would be pushed hard to spot the difference. The van as it stood, was now 21 years in production at same factory.
In 21 years, the German economy, wages, cost of living, etc, etc, all have changed significantly enough, that the last produced VW T6.1 vans were getting stupidly expensive for the average builder, fleet operator, etc. only die hard VW fan base were (still are) willing to pay the premium over equivalent Ford, Vauxhall, etc.
To continue on producing LCV panel van and remain successfully competitive, VW would have had to launch a completely new platform, engines, etc which they could, but this development would've been far to costly, then there is manufacturing location. This would have to be either moved abroad or remain in Germany. Meaning that the new van, would had starting price, north of £50k-£60k which is far from being competitive.
So, they have turned to Ford, who are selling 3:1 more vans compared to VW, despite the wet belt fiasco, amongst other issues, and have jointly developed the platforms, for Ranger & Amarok, Transit Connect & Caddy as well as Transit Custom and T7.
The new T7, is being produced at same factory in Turkey as is the Transit Custom, albeit on a parallel production lines, with each manufacturer uncharge of their own quality control. Both vans, will have different packages, to remain competitive, but comparable on price.

I am personally not a big fan of any Ford product, never have been, and never will be.
For one, I hate the turquoise backlit dials and endless boings, when you leave door ajar or forget to turn the light off when the key is out of ignition. The engines are shite with endless, issues. Meaning I could never have the confidence in any Ford product.
To me the T6.1 was the last true VW Transporter, a genuine VW product to ever exist and they have done a great job of knocking it on the head, due to ever rising manufacturing costs, and competition from Far East like China, who are producing, cheaper alternatives to European produced vehicles.

Same is already happening at big name motorcycle manufactures.

I shall keep my T6 for some time yet.

I tend to buy bikes more with my heart and than my head and whilst lots of Chinese manufactures are starting to make some good bikes there are still very few I can get excited about - Kove 450 perhaps being the exception.

Where a bike is actually made is less important to me - my latest Triumph for example was made in Thailand and my "Swedish" Husqvarna is of course really an Austrian KTM :)

Think it will be while though before we start seeing anything inspirational coming from Chinese manufactures other than what is basically copies of main stream bikes.

If personal finances get tight which is likely under a Labour circus, individuals may see better value in cheaper bikes.
You only need to look at the number of dealers closing at the moment to see all is not well.
Take my local motorrad dealer. They are extending there special deals due to massive demand.
The true story is they are not selling, according to one of the chimps on the car sales side.

Don’t really agree.
The CF Moto 450 MT isn’t a copy of anything really and is very inspirational. Probably why it’s sold out for the next 12 months !
Just watch a Nathan Millward vid such as this and see how he admires CF Moto for building a bike that nobody else has done …
Marcus at P and H was raving about them . He sold every one he got his hands on . Meanwhile KTM sales are so dire that they are giving up the franchise.
