Voge DS900X

A lot of the engines and many other parts for European car & motorcycle manufacturers are already made in China, Malaysia & India, the bikes are put together in Europe but from these parts sourced cheaply out of Europe.
The dawn of quality Chinese bikes wasn't going to take long given they have now had 5 years or more building engines & parts for European manufacturers and have built these to strict quality controls from said manufacturers.
I've ridden the Voge 900 and its a very capable bike and with the delivered package including panniers and various other desirable items that lots of manufacturers charge extra for it is extremely good value for money when compared against a 900 GSA with the same spec costing £16,200.00.
Taking depreciation into account the likleyhood is that the Voge 900 is the better buy all round and will cost you less over 5 years. The days of Excessive profits going to both dealers and manufacturer may be coming to an end for the European market.

Cost to build, ship and on the road in the UK for a 900 GSA could be a similar price to a Voge 900 based on real terms cost to put the European bike on sale.

The only thing putting me off at the moment is the short service period (less than 4000 miles) which seems a bit odd if it's the same motor as BMW.

For most UK riders...that'll just be an annual service then as the average mile is c4k

What a brilliant value bike even fitting a dash cam as standard what a great idea, about time BMW and the others has something new to think about, and with quality running gear I reckon Voge won't be able to get enough of these.

I would definitely shortlist it if in the market - these 'brand names' such as BMW/KTM have been stiffing us for accessories and packs for too long, on what are already expensive products.

Tempting to try one but need to curb my buying for a bit!

That maybe the case, but I bet it won’t cost ANYWHERE near what a BMW dealer charges.

Another factor that some might want to consider is do you really want China to dominate the automotive industry in the same way that it now dominates manufacture of small goods? The UK has already lost most of its manufacturing base ans along with it good jobs replaced by low wage service industry jobs. China as a state isn't entirely friendly from my point of view laying claim to the entire South China sea to within a few miles of other nations such as Malaysia and Indonesia and it is certainly helping Russia via the back door. I suspect their business model re bikes/cars is the same as that of the east European hairdressers who move into the High Street offering cheap haircuts and then once the local traditional hairdresser has gone out of business they raise their prices. I don't see a way that European manufacturers can compete with Chinese electric cars where startup brands that we didn't know here a year or two ago can offer good quality products developed in the home market and now sold here once they are reliable. So yes the bikes do represent good value but maybe spell the end of the European and Japanese manufacturers with a few unpleasant indirect political consequences too. Apologies that this post is nothing to do with the bikes and perhaps should be in the politics section but there you go.

PS I was parked next to a brand new Chinese 650 adventure bike the other day (can't remember the brand) and there was oil pissing out of the oil cooler. I'm sure the same happens with spanking new BMW/KTM etc etc bikes from time to time, but just saying
Nobody seems to mind Germany dominating the automotive industry. The domination seems to go in cycles. Perhaps it’s china’s turn?
We (the U.K.) dominated it for a while. The Japanese succeeded us, then the Germans with slight side dominations of areas of automotive vehicles by other countries.

And then we’ll all start crying when our favourite local bike shops go under!!
The Chinese don’t give a fuck about service or after sales, they only care about manufacturing like Doritos. The whole biking industry will turn into the same as other consumer electrical goods. Buy, use and replace at failure. Anyone fixed a fucked fridge or TV recently?? lol
You can make your beds and lie in them!!
I’d sooner buy a new Piaggio Moto Guzzi V85TT for a similar price to one of those disposable bikes………and happily take it to my local dealer to get it fixed when it fucks up!!
You’re delusional 🤔

………..and yes you’re right, they have the biggest manufacturing plants in the world because they like making/ copying good shit. They don’t like fixing it tough. That’s where their R&D ends!! 😂

You’re delusional if you think you can get a V85TT for a similar price .

The very basic V85 is nearly £2.5k more than the Voge.

You’d need to get the TT Travel at nearly £4.5k more and it’s still wouldn’t have the spec of the Voge.

Yeah, but I was referring to the Euro 4 V85TTs that were kicking about a month ago or so. Maybe not available now, but was just trying to make a point. They were under £10k.
Sure there’ll be other deals over the winter too - as the big boys counter the Chinese wave 🤔

That may be true. But a lot of the ‘proper’ bike shops disappeared as customers and manufacturers alike wanted bigger, shinier glass palace showrooms. Manufacturers demanded solus status to be one of their dealers. Minimum stocking with a spread of models that they dictate, never mind what sells in a particular area. They even dictate what posters go on the showroom walls and what shirts the staff wear…all at a cost to the dealer, sorry, customer of course.

Now we see the big car groups ditching their premium brand motorcycle outlets, BMW, Harley Davidson etc.
We then continually read of the high costs for a new bike, the depreciation, the Labour rates for service work etc….oh, but never mind, there is free coffee AND biscuits!

It’s all very nice but a large percentage of the bike buying public in developed markets are looking to more cost effective solutions to their leisure purchases.

My final thought, if anyone thinks that the UK new motorcycle market is pivotal to the global market you’re delusional.
In fact, if we disappeared the global market wouldn’t notice.

Very true.
But the big boys can go fuck themselves. Money-grabbing bastards.
The British bike industry is pretty much dead. I think all Triumphs are made in Thailand.
CCM polish the same turd to produce 101 versions of the same crap.
All the Europeans have gone crazy in their pricing . £30k for a farkled WankPanzer ?
For HALF that you could have a Voge DS900X and a Himalayan 450 !

I’m not sure I’d want a Voge 900 as my only bike at this point in time . BUT, at under £8k for me OTR it literally wants for nothing apart from possibly a Chinese AIO5 Play for CarPlay nav. More chinky shite. Perfect !

Getting back to the Voge, this guy is worth following

Some good vids including how to update the HMI to 4.4 which supposedly improves fuelling and makes the bike run cooler.

Anyway, I’m not dissing anyone for buying them, but it won’t be me!
That’s my 2c contribution and I’ll STFU now.
PS. China isn’t exactly our friend in the big world game and I wouldn’t want to be left with my dick in my hand if there’s a Russian type embargo imposed on them?!
Just saying 😬

The 24 plate Chinese bike I saw the other day with the leaky oil cooler, saw it again today (it's actually a Zontes 350) the oil cooler now appears to be fixed but I noticed how furry the bare metal barrels are and it hasn't seen a British winter yet.

A British winter will show up any shortfalls in fixings & finishes for sure. We need an owner who rides through winter to report back.
My GS is about to go through its second winter (with me) & after last year’s miserable, long one it wasn’t without fault. I ride all year & weather but I always try to wash the bike every week & to rinse it off if road salt has been down. Even so my chromed headers don’t look so chromed now & I have the start of engine paint bubbling although BMW don’t agree.
I still have 5 months or so of warranty so we’ll try again next March!

I think it looks great having seen one. Apart from the branded components are all the other components on the bike f850gs items or copies ?
