Having been totally unimpressed with BMW Customer Services response to the failure of the fuel pump controller on my 2006 GS, I 'grassed them up' with a report to VOSA. To my complete surprise, I received a follow-up phone call explaining that my year model was excluded from the recall because BMW statistics did not inidcate a failure rate that was significant enough to justify action.
The only problem with this is for that riders whose warranties have expired get repairs undertaken outside of the normal BMW channels e.g. they just buy the part and fit it themselves. I'm not even sure that BMW log non-warranty claims for this fault.
Basically, I want a refund for the replacement part that I had to buy because the fault is just the same as that experienced by owners whose bikes have been recalled.
So, I was wondering if the factory fitted part number that failed on my 06 bike (it has two numbers 7694378 and 58200070) is different from those that are included in the recall)? Just for the record, after the failure a 16147719844 was fitted before I upgraded to the epoxy coated 16147720776.
Any help would be very much appreciated.
Thanks
