On my fairly recent buy 79R100RT it has the common wavy/ wafty speedo needle... Obviously it would be nice to have more than a vague idea of how fast I was going😆 I've oiled the cable and semi cured this on a previous Airhead (can't remember quite how) but is it just take it apart and clean hoping it helps or will it always be +/- 10mph...👌😂

I found on my classics that removing the cable at both ends then placing a clear plastic bag on the drive end. I started with thin oil eg like 3:1 and checked to colour of the oil going into the bag. If it is really dirty and there is no collet I remove the inner , wipe , oil and refit.

Without suggesting you suck eggs , but dont oil the speedo end with the drive connected otherwise can get into the hub. Also dont over oil as it can “ screw” back up into the speedo head and gum up the delicate parts in there.

Apologies if you know this already.

Don't the modern mobile phones have this Speedo gauge as an app. feature, not sure as i'm old fashioned with a Nokia 110 phone... :D

To answer my above question:
Yes, many mobile phones have speedometer apps that utilize GPS technology to measure and display speed. These apps often feature both analog and digital speedometer displays and can track maximum and average speeds.

I fitted a beeline moto 2 to mine - does the speed display & basic nav, doesn't look out of place on the old girl.

That's half the battle as I have a Nav 5 I can use but it takes over a bit...
