2 years plus for West Mercia…. 3 months over the border in Warwickshire….if you’re in Gloucestershire…good luck!

I'd complain, try going via BASC, it's not legal for the to not provide this service as it's part of their job, kick up a stink, that's disgraceful

Not for me. I’m sorted, just quoting what I was told last week.
Got mine in currently with Glasgow, they have done their bit and it's now in the hands of the local police, it's been about a month, so I'll give the another week and then a gentle nudge ;)

Glos are not processing new applications presently (or this was the case a short while back) and waiting times for renewals has stretched out due to staff shortages following a reshuffle and change of team/structure. I've found my own SEO good to deal with though and as usual, was very helpful when I chased up my renewal.

Just had a letter and ive been given a 3 month extension to mine even though I applied for it 3 months before its due date and thats MET, my son in law applied 3 months ago, not heard a thing !!

Friend of mine does these tickets, he completely snowed under,Henley area

Hi,
Just as a matter of interest, a question,
With those sort of waiting times, are you able/allowed to continue in your chosen shooting sport while the new application is processed?

For a new application, there are circumstances where you can shoot under supervision . You are however, prohibited from possessing. With renewals, it’s more complicated. If you apply in the accepted time frame before your ticket runs out, you can be granted an “extension “. If you applied before it ran out but later than the accepted time frame you will generally have to lodge your firearms with a dealer. Shotguns and Section 1 firearms are treated differently.

Thanks for that Doris, it works pretty much the same way here. In Oz however, each state has its own firearms laws ans some are seriously more onerous (Western Australia), than others.

Still nothing from mine, looks like Ill have another 3 month extension coming !!
2 mates have applied and nothing at all in 5 months albeit there payment has been taken !!

Same in Ireland, 4 months and nothing. Went from been 4-6weeks last year to serious delays with new Super

Had my inspection 2 weeks ago and all ok however a amber warning was flagged up and noted as my dog got out and went over the road and was barking to get back !! this was logged as a dangerous dog incident !! well my ticket expired last Sunday so it must have been approved as they have not been round to impound the guns, or the dog !!

Made me buy a key safe for my cabinet before they would renew my ticket.

Here in Cumbria I applied for the renewal of both my firearms and shotgun certificates coterminously as usual about eight weeks before expiry and received the new one's 10 days before the old ones expired.
It's the first time after many renewals that I had to pay the doctor £89 to say I was fit to keep my guns, also the officer gave me the full 3rd degree, I must say I felt like I could be denied but all was well in the end.
The renewal fees haven't half gone up though !

I proper got the 3rd degree questioning as well, asked the guy if I was under investigation, they even asked my wife and referee if they had seen me have any violent tendency's or been violent towards them, and if they were happy with me having
a gun license, never had that before !!

All the above for me too.

Understandable on a new application i think, but for someone who has held the cert for 25 years, maybe a bit over the top, yes check that im not loosing my marbles with the Doctor, but we had a 20 minute conversation about me being type 2 diabetic that has been under control for years, anyway hopefully its sorted now, I eagerly check the post each day when I get in from work for the certificate to arrive !!
