Wappy Wonder Wheel Problem

Yep, nav fault. BMW and garmin are aware of it, they replaced mine straightaway. Don’t know if they have solution for it yet.

i had the same known fault with the nav they will replace it

It’s a shame garmins new overland unit isn’t waterproof. I had a Montana for a long while and loved it, had no Bluetooth which was its only drawback if you like hearing the directions. But I love using the wheel with the nav6

Had the same problem, it was the Nav VI. Spoke to Garmin and they said it was a known fault and they exchanged my Nav BI for a new one - problem solved 👍

Apologies for the thread resurrection...

Earlier in this thread I said my NAV VI problem (random screen movements, unresponsive touch screen) was resolved by cleaning the screen.

Turns out that the 'fix' didn't last long and my dealer replaced the unit (which was new in June 2019) in October. I was happy with that.

However, my new unit now has exactly the same problem, and the dealer is now saying they need to book the bike in rather than just replace the NAV, because this is a very "uncommon problem".

Question is... Has anyone else had a problem with the bike or is it always just a problem with the NAV (as I suspect).

I had an issue with my previous GS and Nav V, where water made its way into the nav mount and shorted out the board. This gave all sorts of weird issues. Dried and protected it with Fospro, and never had an issue again. I think the dealer pressure washed it after a service.

Sounds like this could be my issue. Did you dismantle the mount to do the drying?

Mine started doing it the other day but has miraculously cured itself, still going to take it back under warranty though.

Yes, only a 10 min job.

Tip, which will make it a bit easier. Put a strip of masking tape over the back of the mount before you remove the fixing screws and take it off the mount bar. It will stop the nuts dropping out of the recesses and being lost forever.

Thanks. That sounds like the voice of experience...

I tried drying out the mount but it made no difference to the behaviour of the NAV VI, so I returned it to the dealer this morning - who did another no-hassle unit swap. Needless to say, the new one is absolutely fine. For now.

The screws that hold the actual mount together are. But the crews that hold the mount to the brace bar aren’t.

Sorrry I thought we were talking about the battery cover on the Nav itself, back to sleep GB
