It's 2.5 years old
Oh! Bugger! Might be worth seeing if the dealer will swap it as a goodwill gesture as its a known issue.
Maybe the three bears have been round
Apologies for the thread resurrection...
Earlier in this thread I said my NAV VI problem (random screen movements, unresponsive touch screen) was resolved by cleaning the screen.
Turns out that the 'fix' didn't last long and my dealer replaced the unit (which was new in June 2019) in October. I was happy with that.
However, my new unit now has exactly the same problem, and the dealer is now saying they need to book the bike in rather than just replace the NAV, because this is a very "uncommon problem".
Question is... Has anyone else had a problem with the bike or is it always just a problem with the NAV (as I suspect).
I had an issue with my previous GS and Nav V, where water made its way into the nav mount and shorted out the board. This gave all sorts of weird issues. Dried and protected it with Fospro, and never had an issue again. I think the dealer pressure washed it after a service.
Sounds like this could be my issue. Did you dismantle the mount to do the drying?
Yes, only a 10 min job.
Tip, which will make it a bit easier. Put a strip of masking tape over the back of the mount before you remove the fixing screws and take it off the mount bar. It will stop the nuts dropping out of the recesses and being lost forever.
I think the screws are captive so not an issue.
The screws that hold the actual mount together are. But the crews that hold the mount to the brace bar aren’t.
