after having a service done at a independant bmw workshop nov last year , the gs broke down last week and was recovered taken to rydale cardiff they tel me to say that there was a issue with the warranty and would have to pay myself for the repairs even though the invoice stated all the parts for service were bmw and that they would not uphold the warranty because the print out was missing a pre diagnostic and post diagnostic listing ,has anyone had this sort of thing happen to yourself any help !!!

I've just had a 16k service and annual inspection at a main BMW dealer and I don't see any pre or post diagnostic listing on the print out? I've also just paid for a BMW warranty. There's another posting on here somewhere regarding this sort of issue and I'm sure it mentioned the extended warranty specifically states services must be carried out by an official service dept and that they can do this as it's an insurance type warranty. Surely at least there should be some sort of goodwill on their part as you have paid for a warranty?

Just so punters have the basic facts, before pronouncing judgement:

Age of bike?

Original manufacturer's (OM) two year warranty?

If out of OM warranty:

BuMW extended warranty?

Third party extended warranty?

What does the warranty's Conditions say vis-a-vis servicing?

Last but not least, the cause of your breakdown, the cost to repair and your excess (if any).

If your bike is still in the 2 year BMW warranty period, Your Warranty is unaffected if Mike at Cardiff Motorrad did the sevice. I checked this with Mike and also with BMW head office. He can supply you with any information to confirm this.:thumb

Interesting ........ Lambda Sensor is a non service related item and the plugs are not due to be changed untill 24000 miles tho you don't say what the initial symptoms were?

I'd be having words with BMW UK if I were you :augie

If Riders won't budge then contact the Bristol mob. They know Mike as he used to work for them (and maybe still does the odd bit of contracting for all I know) and I bet he sources all his spares from them, which probably pisses off Riders!

problems were missing and rough idle, have spoke to mike see what happens awaiting reply

I fail to see what could have been done at the last service to have had such an effect. Are you sure you just haven't picked up some contaminated fuel and it is this that has caused the issues?
