Just removed a disturbing amount of water from under the fuel filler cap.

Having reamed the drain hole out with some strimmer string and blown it through with an air pump there now seems to be an escape route for the water but prevention must be better than cure.

Anyone know of a set of seals to stop water getting in in the first place ?

thanks
Richard

Don't ask me about the state I'm in, I can't sing I'm not pretty and my legs are thin .........

Keep it clear with a spray of WD40 ....once you've cleared the blockage it should be ok :thumb

They all do that, that's why there is a drain hole. The seals are to stop the water getting in the tank.

I spray the area arround the filler neck with ACF 50 just to stop corrosion.

Water gets between the cap assembly and the tank (big gap) and between the filler cap and the cap assembly (small gap). You could glue it all up with silicon, but you might stop the cap from opening.

As said. That's the purpose of the hole, and why it's called a drain hole..... And should be checked that it's clear at every service.

Sealing the cap at a higher point will lead to a tank vacuum and cause the bike to stop running.
