Weak points on a GS1200?

OK my 2 year BMW warranty is up this August and my bike is going in next week for:

Engine/gearbox oil seals
Replacement of oil cooler/radiator which is leaking
Replacement of corroded bodywork section which screen screws to
Replacement of corroded petrol cap
Replacement of EWS

Work already been done:

Replacement of corroded Rear wheel (around bolts)
Replacement of corroded front engine cover
Replacement of corroded front subframe
Replacement of corroded engine heads (around where the throttle bodies locate)
Replacement of gear selector sensor?


From this site I understand that the rear light is a known weak area to corrosion - have I missed anything else??

Kinell - Either you got a lemon or I've been very lucky (twice)
05 and 08 - only had a rocker cover replaced on the 05 cos it was a bit manky. I rode the 05 all year round and plan to do the same with the new one.

Corrosion problems

It seems that most of your problems have been caused by corrosion; Do you live or leave the bike parked near the sea? My mother had a flat on the seafront at Hove some years ago. The rust on her car was terrible and the window frames in her flat and others were destroyed by rust.
