After a fair few of us went to Moffat late April this year I’m thinking of doing another weekend, 17th or 24th of April.

In Moffat other bike groups have already taken over the Buccleuch, other hotels have some availability but not loads. So we could go there but not as many of us as this year, unless folk camp.

So I’m wondering about another Borders town but I don’t know them well. Kelso, Jedburgh, Peebles, Langholm - any suggestions?

We have used Burts hotel in Melrose a few times now. Decent parking, good beers (Timothy Taylor’s Landlord) on draught, good selection of whisky. The food was good. Rooms were good enough and there are a couple of other decent pubs in the village.

couple of decent B&B here https://maps.app.goo.gl/h8P1km6zFrq8FZ2R9 in Moffat. I stayed in the Rockhill which was excellent. Split across the two maybe, which I believe someone else here did a while ago?

My absolute favourite place near the Borders is in Brampton, the Howard Arms but only managed to get in once recently as very popular.

https://www.thecornerhousehotel.com/ in Annan was okay.

A friend has recently moved into Ecclefechan and recommends this place. https://ecclefechanhotel.co.uk/ - they stayed there when looking for places to buy.

I know Burts, nice place, just not many other hotels in town and limited camping

https://www.thehillhotel.co.uk/ in Dumfries so you could go either way, Moffet etc or Solway coast. Terry and Lynne are bikers, BnB but can get "fodder" in town, walk able

Great place to stay.

TD.

YIP that was me. There where 6 of us divided between Rockhill and Buchan which we retired too at short notice after the Strontian Hotel lost electricity in Storm Amy. Both were great with parking to the rear for the bikes.

This year there were about 40 folk attended so anywhere we choose has to have a few places. All suggestions welcome!

Been to the Border Inn in Kirk Yetholm. Was a nice place with good food a few years back...no idea now though.....

Traquair Arms in Innerleithen is nice. Town isnt the best but its ok.

Kelso would get my vote
Or Duns
Or Peebles
Stayed in all of them at various times in biking weekends

Kelso is a good shout, plenty of room, decent pubs. Used to go every year when I was on the old lambretta for the scooter rally.
Royal Legion, much cheapness for the beverages !!

I don’t remember there being much in the way of camping around Hawick. And to be honest there are not a lot of ‘hotels’ but I would think plenty of air b n b’s. Hawick, not a hugely tourist town.
Kelso, nice and the best town square in the Scottish Borders.

Kelso has a nice ‘vibe’ to it and has always been friendly to visit or stay in

Striking distance of the Northumbrian coast too and also the Cheviots & Lammiemuir hills - a lot to offer

Up there recently at end of October at nearby Allanton
