Weight saving ... really?

I know what the MPG is cos it says it right there in front of me, but do I care that much now? No not really, but a lot of other motorcyclists do, depends upon how much spare cash you have. I did when I had the ZX12R, sometimes I got as little as 80 miles to a tank.

Folks mention miles to the gallon , can’t see it. I ride my bike to enjoy it not see how much I can get from a tank , we have many petrol station here and abroad , my arse starts to call for a coffee and fag around 120 miles , I’m human .. if this new bike did 20 to the gallon , who cares ..I love riding it and any bike

I found it quite interesting to see what my bikes averaging seeing as ive only just got it, I like to stay out of petrol stations and would run generally near empty before filling as they are a pain especially on a bike. mpg doesn't affect how I ride unless range is low and im keen to get home or to a destination without another stop off.

Out of interest I will find the average , but I remove it from the dash options , so will have a look today . I agree about understanding the lower limit as it useful if short of fuel .
Remember getting to 12 miles to empty with 18 miles to St Jean from the mountain cafe as forgot to fuel , that was a pootle down the hill lol

People who actually ride care ! People who ride hard getting 20 mpg or riding in areas where gas stations are not as plenty or dont want to be bothered to look and stop for gas every other hour…A BMW should have a 200 mile range no matter how hard you crank the throttle and a tool kit and tire inflator under the seat…24 liters and the other 2 things were the BMW standard not too long ago…And 12 kilos weight savings would have been great but unfortunately are only lies like everything else we get to see today as the old 1250 is just as light if you leave passenger pegs,luggage rack,centerstand stand off and put a Lithium battery and one liter less in the tank…At least it seems it feels lighter than it is but the lawn mover sized tank surely is a turn off ! Oh well the old 1250 has to grace the stable for a while longer… Not to mention that it sounds better and has a little more go below 80 due to shorter gearing despite having 15 hp less

I’m the same, I don’t have a clue how many mpg (or liters/100km here) my bikes do, compared to cars they’re diabolical anyway

I know my 1200 used to drink if you cruised at over about 120 kmh but I haven’t had the 1300 on a long run yet to find out
I think it will be better as it feels to be lower revving at that kind of speed

When your getting 80mls for 19 lts you know your having a good time;;; sadly from a time long ago;

Fact is BMW lied...The new 1300 weighs exactly the same as the old 1250 because lighter battery and less fuel can also be applied to the old 1250 ! As for power 15 hp/nm more great but due to taller gearing only valid at speed above 100 mph....A problem easily solved by giving it 80 mm stroke for a full 1400cc...LOL
Hopefully soon with a nice taillight instead of the ugly and retarded looking Harley blinker taillight and a software update to delink the foot brake from the front rotors which is beyond stupid...! If you want to save 4 kilos you have to buy the forged enduro wheels which is a next to taller sports suspension a must have for the new GS...Hopefully Touratech or Wunderlich come out with a real taillight that looks good , a bigger tank that is affordable and Akrapovic which a full system that gives some good deep Boxersound ! There is still hope...LOL
