Ok, so today’s ride from south Normandy to Pas de Calais in continuous rain left me with a wet crotch……AGAIN! No, I didn’t pee myself but I find even with the expensive suits it never really keeps dry. Even my old Rukka Armas ( Armageddon) suit I ended up with a wet crotch and even with my top of the range RevIt waterproof troos it’s never 100% dry.
Anyone got any tips?
Rest of me was fine with my Rukka goretex suit and with my lightweight Decathlon padded shell jacket it was nice and toasty despite only 14 degrees and continuous rain for 6 hours…

I do the last bit and it just about deep freezes my nads…..
even with the heated seats, its damn uncomfortable…

I decided heated seats were less important than good drainage/cooling, which the covers provide. I could never feel the heat through the mesh, although others on here have a different take on that.

The trousers I mentioned are cheap enough to try out and see if you line them. Proper farmer gear but similar enough to the Scott jacket that they actually form a decently matched suit (same rubbery stretchy material with welded seams).

Get one of those cool covers and problem solved.
AliExpress does a cheap copy.

Richa Rain Warrior over trousers. I've have these to throw on incase of rain. Never had wet crotch syndrome when deploying them. Fold down to nothing to accompany my wax or gortex jackets. Cheap, cheerful and dry.

is water wicking up between your layers and then running down the inside of the trousers?

I was wearing the same gear this year in France that I wore last year and had wet balls on one day this year. The change has been from a R1200RS with a normal bike seat to the V85TT with a typical adv bike seat that is narrow at the front and moulded up the tank. This mean it is easier for water to pool between the seat and your trousers then wick up through capillary action.

The solution is a bib and brace style trouser, a one piece oversuit (not for old fatties like us), a pair of waterproof overtrousers that come up to your armpits like Simon Cowell or change bike.

I’ve never had a wet crotch or anything else since wearing Rukka or Klim. Started 8 years ago with a used Rukka Armas suit I bought on eBay, replaced it 3 years later with a Rukka Nivala & replaced that 2years ago with a Klim Kodiak. Always washed them in Nikwax Tech wash & reproofer. I ride through the year & 🤞 never been wet or cold.

Rukka Nivala 2 jacket, £1,400 at full retail, completely waterproof.
Mountain Warehouse over trousers, £14 at discount price, completely waterproof.
TCX boots, 20 years old, completely waterproof. Regularly treated with Renapur.

Gloves are a problem. I like unlined gloves and treat them with Renapur but they still get wet. And no matter how careful I am I get water on the inside of my visor (Shoei GT Air 2).

There seems to be little correlation between how much you spend and how waterproof some stuff is.

Yea, yea….. been there….. dropped a nasty one ( huge fart) whilst diving in a dry suit having ascended from 25 metres. Used to play havoc with my guts that diving lark….
Curry the night before and the poor bastard that I asked to open my shoulder zip after the dive almost threw up…

I always thought it was wicking through the stitching in the crotch area. This is where the rain tends to funnel to when riding anyway..

I have klim badlands and gotta say never get wet, tried Richa and the warrior wet suit but have only been truly dry in the Klim gear..

easy to check. Just get a paper clip and a narrow strip of newspaper. Fold it over the top of the trousers and clip in place. Go for a ride in the rain. If water is wicking up then the paper gets wet. If the paper is dry but you still have wet nads then the seam is leaking. The latter is often the death of waterproof trousers, especially cheaper ones as the seams get stretched every time you cock a leg over the bike.

Old Klim badlands suit ( 2012 ) massive mileage in all conditions ,, not a drop so far 👍
