What are the best tyres.....?

Need to know cause mine are looking like Kojaks head, replacing front and back, I do some off road and plenty of touring, my current tyres are the stock trailwings which i found to be a little slippy slidey.

I gots to know..and i humbly apologise if this subject has been covered already.

I think you should try the new Dunlops and let us know what they're like. Personally, i liked the feedback from Bridgestone Trailwings (confidence) better than Tourances (dry roads), but i think the Tourances will last longer.

I have had several pairs of Tourance and they are pretty good on al surfaces except mud (funnily enough). Some people like the Anakees - there was a debate about the on www.advrider.com as well - and as far as I could conclude they are both bloody good.

Metzeler Karoo

Has anyone tried the Karoo? I always used to use Continental TKC80's but was chatting to the Metzeler importer, who I know quite well, at the Dirt Rider Expo show and he suggested I try the Karoo's. He didn't expect them to last very long on the road, but then again neither do the TKC80's.

Anyone used them? Do they last? How much?

had a trailwing on the front and just didnt like the feel of it in the wet..

nothing bad.. greta in the dry just when it was wet i didnt trust the things,, had a few slips here and there and they just made the hairs on teh back of my neck stand up..

if you know what i mean..

put a front and rear tourance s back on and handleing was lovely jubbely again..


have heard good things about anekees .. but they are the knobblys arent they?


anyways.. tourances r best in my opinion, esp now that its wet n miserable..

TKC 80s - twinduros

Excellent on and off road - back is only good for 5/6k but grip well in all sorts of conditions...including white fluffy stuff!

Cheaper than tourance so lower milage works out.
Gone through 4 rears ...had trailwings on for a short while..scary!!

Hi Mark,

Busters are the cheapest I ever got TKC's. I paid £100 for a pair at last year's Bike Show (show deal inc delivery). They currently quote £63.50 for a rear & £54 for a front. Browse their catalogue & look at Tyres/Continental. All their prices have to be checked manually so I'm not sure if the prices above include delivery. Worth a phone call, though.

Decided to try these even tho' Tourances are good (had several sets in past) But thought if you dont try anything new you never advance.

Michelin Anakees also bloody good, wet or dry, very neutral handling, rolls smoothly rather than drops into corners like previous T66's did - which were crap in the wet. Only thing about the Anakees is they dont look as if they'll last as long as Tourances, significant rear wear after 2K miles, used to get about 7-8k out of Tourances, doubt if these will do much more than 5-6k & they're dearer than Tourances .
