What can possibly go wrong?

The end result is that it’s clean dry, no clumping of the down and it’s regained so much of its loft I struggled to get it into a pillow case for storing in in the top of the airing cupboard with the rest of the sleeping bags.

Now do I risk cleaning my Macpac 4 seasons bag?

Excellent result! :thumb
Well done. May as well have a second go now.

It took me 40 years to be brave enough to wash an old bag, I might be a bit faster for the next one.

Anyways, Grangers down wash kit is what you need if you want to do one of yours. I washed it twice on a 30c gentle wash cycle then used a low temperature drying cycle, maximum 10 minutes at a time and kept turning the bag inside out then back again so it dried evenly.

When working in Frankfurt in the early 80's and knowing some US army lads at the local barracks (we had motorcycles), I bought a military winter cocoon sleeping bag. Down filled, heavy, zipped, khaki and with an outer heavy cotton sleeve cover.
Only the zip head replaced. It still serves me well on winter rallies.

I honestly think the sleeping bag/setup is the most important kit and we should always pay the maximum we can.

At the end of any day, good or bad there is no better feeling than climbing into a good quality sleeping bag
and on the other end of the scale, there is nothing worse than climbing into a shit sleeping bag uncomfy and cold

How you fare the following day depends all on the above.

I agree with you ,but there’s nothing more annoying than paying top price for kit then find it’s crap ,
You only have to look on here regarding the Klim or Rukka kit ,billed as the dogs bollocks and costs a fortune .loads of people complaining that it’s shite .

Funny I trip over this.

My crappy Klim jacket RH pocket zip slider just came off the track. Can’t get it back on.

Pile of shit only 11 years old and the rain in Spain is getting in the pocket. Don’t know what I’m gonna do …..
