What grease?

I've just had my front wheel out for a good clean up and a new tyre etc....
Now the spindle was a bit grotty so I gave it a smooth down with 1200 grit sandpaper and got all the old grease off. Now it's about to go back in I'm wondering if I've got the correct grease for it? The stuff I was about to use is multi purpose MOLY GREASE for CV joints. The operating temp range says 20 - 135 degrees. Is that the right stuff to use?

Use it.

As far as I can tell with this bike is that it helps prevent corrosion and doesn't make the wheel rotate any easier.

I take it you have nothing sensible to say then. I'm glad you either already know the answer but are too much of a **** to help someone who doesn't OR are one of the lucky ones who can afford to take your bike to a dealer to do the job for you. Nice. Cheers.

I use castrol LM grease. As you are just lubricating the spindle and the amount will be minimal then any grease will be better than none. I would be happy using your multipurpose grease,

There is a view that you should not use copperslip type anti seize (PBC etc) as this can damage bearings in the unlikely situation that it finds it way into them. Good job I did not know as I had been using it on my spindles for 30+ years without problems.

Well udders has the hall marks of a 1200 owner, the lack of tolerance and humour at a flippant remark .

I've got a sense of humour alright but not when I need to get my bike back together and you get twattish answers. The Haynes manual says to put a smear of grease on the spindle but not what type of grease!
I'd never lower myself enough to get a 1200!
