What oil in my 1150GS?

What oil am I supposed to use in my 1150 GS?

I am currently using 10w/40 Semi Castrol Magnatec.
Is this right?
I have used it in all my Japanese bikes.
Will it harm the Beemer if it is the wrong oil?

Using a decent quality 15/50 is the answer.

Mate, things vary from just mineral to semi-synth, ratios vary (10/40, 15/50 etc). I find the garages/dealers always tend to use 10/40 semi-synth but I used Halfords mineral for ages and am at the present using some semi-synth my girlfriend had left over from her car. I don't think it's that vital an issue, as long as something's in there. Check the manual for the ratings (SPI or something), go to Halfords and get the cheapest or whatever your feel like.

Don`t get all upset mate.

Your handbook will show you what oil suits what temperature ranges.

Failing that,a Haynes or Clymer manual will do the same (and you really should own at least one of the aforementioned).

And failing either of them..do a Forum Search,as this subject really has been done to the moon and back....mostly needlessly so,due to the information being clearly displayed in the aforementioned publications and the owners handbook.
