My 2002 1150GS (owned by me since oct 06) is coming up for the 18,000 mile service, looking at previous service history engine had mineral oil for first 600 miles then has had semi syn since including one oil change carried out by me. following reading many threads on oil and running in for the boxer engine on this very forum.
My question to the collective knowledge is, would your advice at the next service be to give the engine 6/12,000 miles with mineral oil to completely bed the engine in, or continue with the semi syn as a bmw dealer would.
For your info the engine oil level has moved down on the site glass from full to three quarters in 1500 miles, and I have not topped it up in that time.
