What to wear?

It might sound a stupid question, but was wondering what riders wear whilst navigating the pistes of Morocco. Wasn't sure whether it's a full leathers job or on the flip side MX style shirts etc. Hoping for sensible answers only

Tough Textiles with good armour and motox boots.
Forget leathers, too hot and impracticle.

Twatsuit or hein gericke touareg or similar

Full motocross body armour, knee braces / guards (got weak knees) and motorcross boots.

If you can justify it, then the Klim Dakar pants are awesome and perfect for that kinda trip. Motorcross sweatshirt or a vented jacket - I bought a Joe Rocket one in a sale (£30) which has zip off bits to reveal a full mesh jacket.

I am of to Morocco in Sept, am taking textile gear removed the lining from the trousers keeping the Armour in (of course), the textile jacket I will be taking out the quilted line but have it with me for any everning /night cold riding, boots on the other hand instead of my sidi I will be taking my lace up Danner boots (lightwaight lace up boots)

Don't forget it does get pretty cold up at 8000 feet in the evenings...

Given the number of bikers who've been to Morocco, the level of accidents is remarkably low--even allowing for tour leaders who break their collar bone arsing about in sand.

A few have had road accidents in Spain or Morocco--I met one guy a couple of weeks ago who dislocated his elbow.

Most falls on pistes are due to rider caution and lack of momentum, so happen at low speed. Armoured textile jackets (done up even when hot!) and trousers are the way to go if you are touring. I have a MX armoured top but I've never used it in Morocco as you need to have warmth for the evening and the gear involved would be too bulky.

A few have had road accidents in Spain or Morocco--I met one guy a couple of weeks ago who dislocated his elbow.

One of my friends hit a kiddie who turned sharp left in front of him just outside a village. Smack! He was VERY glad of the body armour.

Another hit the deck hard going a little too fast and took a chunk out of his right elbow armour on a big rock. Thank God he was wearing it as we were miles from anywhere at the time.

Tim knows WAY more than I ever will, but I have the attitude that if you wear it and never need it (like lucky me) then great. If if you need it and don't have it...

I wore it every day, over a sweat-wicking T shirt and put whatever else I needed to over the top.

I'm the other rider going with GSRichie next year, thanks for the excellent advice

BTW if you're reading this Tim, GSRichie is a bit slow getting the beers in, long pockets and short arms I'll be glad to buy you a drink.
