Hi,

I just want to know what are the best tyres to use on a 1200gs. I cannot be bothered using the search button so I thought I would just ask you to save time.

Ps what is the bestest oil to use :)

Round tyres work very well, I've also heard olive oil is very good for engines....

I could search for you but thought I would just save time and chin you off :D

Yeah, round black ones. Yellow ones look really tarty on a GS.

HTH

Just go for Tourance original pattern - rear is good for 6000 miles, and you won't be disappointed.

both of the 12's that I was out with at the weekend had problems keeping the air in so look for the airtight round black ones

Moved over to the correct section of the forum for you.

Your question is as pointless as your arrogance in saying that you can't be arsed to use the search button.

How heavy are you, how do you ride, do you ride solo or two up, do you ride purely on road, or a bit of off-road, or do you ride mostly off-road?
If you off-road, do you ride chalky slippery shit, muddy shit or rocky sandy shit?
Do you prefer grip or longevity, or a combination?
Do you corner hard and low, or like to power out once upright after the corner, or a combination?
Do you ride Easter to Autumn, or all year around?
What is your average mileage in all or any of the above circumstances?

Not a single one of the answers you will get on this thread (including this one) will be of ANY use to you, because you don't know ANY of the factors above that have prompted anyone to answer in the way and choice that they have expressed.

In short, you are a typical 1200 riding twat and a lazy, arrogant one to boot (as well as exhibiting an 80-85% chance of being a sad troll*) :)

Have a wonderful evening :beerjug:

*edited......having revisited to check a typo I have just seen your avatar and I'd like to raise the probability of you being a sad fekking troll from my upper guess of 85% to that of 98-99.9999%

conti trail attaks get you 12000 miles per set, every time!

I'm lucky to get 6000 out of a rear 2up before the stepping buggers the grip levels...... Alpine roads are almost as good as a track for shredding tyres...... Great tyre though, never had a reason to change yet.

The man's in Edinburgh. Good Scottish tarmacadam is incredibly abrasive. If he rides at anything like a decent pace, he'll be lucky to get any more than 5K out of a rear tyre. I don't think I've ever had more than 4.5K out of any bike with 100 bhp +. I'm currently anticipating a rear tyre life of c. 3.5K miles on my WC.

He means 6000 out of each .. total 12,000 :thumb2

You are, sir, a riding god and I genuflect before your infinitely superior knee down riding skillzzzz....... well done

Oh, have you got a WC? Well I never! :blast

We are blessed not once, nay not twice but thrice by your riding prowess and the superhuman self control it must take for a deity of your stature to lower himself to comment on the activities of such lowly scum such as we.

By jove, I think, after all these years, you've finally got it. Well done, William...... :thumb

(Apart from the bit about "knee down" - nothing so common, please.)

Don't bother buying tyres. just wrap the rims with a few 100 turns of industrial cling film.

BTW
Olive Oil is ok but her boyfriend is an annoying sailor

Before you wrap the wheels with cling film. Don't forget to put some BB pellets in there to balance it all out.
