This question comes up very often and is really just personnal preferance.
Main choices seems to be :
Tourance
020/021
Conti Attacks
amongst others.

tourances good wet or dry
conti trail attacks tried them and will be putting tourances back onthe contis just dont give the confidence that the tourances do,,,for me anyways
michelin annekees are supposed to be good.
I get around 10 thousand miles out of a set of the old style Metzeler Tourances, no problems in the wet.
Stewart

Bridgestone Trailwings
Michelin Anakees
Bridgestone 020's
Continental Trail attacks
Continental Road Attacks
Pirelli Scorpions
Avon Distanzia's
Dunlop D607
Metzeler Tourance EXP
Tried all of the above & now back on Metzeler Tourance
Best all round IMO
are the EXP'S a softer compound ??? i was told to steer clear of em due to quick wear ??
Just switched from tourances to Michellin Road Pilots as these days it's all on the road. I have to say what a revelation, especially in the wet. Bike is a lot quicker into the corners. Admittedly this is a sports touring tyre and doesn't look quite to good on the bike but for sheer riding pleasure they're great.
Can't comment on longevity at the moment but they do have a good rep and came out on top of the tourance in the survey published elsewhere in this site.
