What Tyres

I am getting ready for a set of tyres for the 1150, I do mainly all tarmac riding, so am wondering what tyres would be best. I am looking for good grip with good mileage. Any suggestions would be welcome..

I get around 10 thousand miles out of a set of the old style Metzeler Tourances, no problems in the wet.

I did, and found loads of info for tyres to fit other bikes, with a bias on info for offroad, so I thought I would ask, at least I am not asking what oil should I use

Had michelin pilot roads fitted to my 1100 as i never venture of road, haven't done that many miles on them yet but they seem ok.

Had them on my previous bike (tdm 850) and they were excellent.

TKC's they dont last that well and they are not the gripiest but they do look cool as fuck

Big thumbs up here for the Conti Trail Attacks seeing as I'm unlikely to venture off road, well not on purpose anyway!

In the six years I had my 1150 I had old style tourances, bridgestone 020, and Conti trail attacks, the bike did a bit of gentle greenlaning with the tourances, otherwise it was 99% tarmac use. The Bridgestones gave more feel and made tipping into the turns easier, I went to the Conti trail attacks because they were cheaper and found them to be as good as the Bridgestones. All three types of tyres I tried were well suited to the bike and my needs, but the tourances lasted a bit longer. You can't go wrong with most modern tyres these days. You're spoilt for choice.

Ten years on the old style Tourances = very good mileage (9 - 11k) and good feel, only one set had the wobble factor on the front, but I got used to it. Great road tyre & OK on Gravel & Green Laning.

Switched to Conti Trail attack a year or so ago = a little less mileage (8-9K), better feel on the road, so I am happy with them and on the second set. Better road tyre (IMHO) & OK on Gravel & Green Laning.

After donkeys years on Tourances.. I moved over to bridgestone 020s... now 020 front.. 021 rear. The way the bike handles was transformed.

Its unlikely I will go back to the Tourance. I will bear in mind the Trail attacks.. and road attacks for the future.

Road Attacks, around 6k rear and 14k front V happy with all round so not tried anything else.

here too... switched from tourances to contis and though on the road I prefer the conti's on everything else the tourances, I feel, were better. I got stuck in the middle of a camping ground in wales this year as my contis would only spin and spin... my father drove straight past me on tourances! I did drive up a wet grass/rock road with the conti but on wet grass they sucked... don't even consider mud! I'm thinking I'll go for heindeau or whatever they are called next..

Just switched from tourances to Michellin Road Pilots as these days it's all on the road. I have to say what a revelation, especially in the wet. Bike is a lot quicker into the corners. Admittedly this is a sports touring tyre and doesn't look quite to good on the bike but for sheer riding pleasure they're great.

Can't comment on longevity at the moment but they do have a good rep and came out on top of the tourance in the survey published elsewhere in this site.

had those on the vara too very good tyres you should see about 8k to a rear

Have had countless numbers of Tourances and on two occasions BT020 and recently 020/021.

I was astounded that the 020/021 didn't inspire any more confidence for me in the wet over the Tourances. The Bridgestones were more expensive and lasted a little longer but fewer miles per £.

Currently on Maxxis Detours. Have been pretty good and have lasted but start off with very deep tread. Cheaper by a fair bit than Tourances but yet to see what mileage they give.
