what would be the cheapest guzzi

Sadly not. They used to be common as sparrows at one time. Don't seem to see them much now. Now all the G5s have gone, a Spada is probably your best bet.

reality check . what do i want (for now) moto guzzi , what do i not want to be fiddling around fixing stuff especially electrical should i consider the v7 as i am a steady rider no speedfreak thats for sure the only thing for me in making the choice is the style the old guzzis just look so good and i know (i hope) if properly looked after will go on .
knowing my track record with bikes (upto 55 or so at this time !!!) it may not stay that long and there is allso the problem of finding a decent guzzi at a sensible price .
this might have helped my choice

Dave,

If you aren't mechanically inclined Old guzzis are a nightmare in terms of needing maintainance and tend to have been bodged or neglected by previous owners.

You would be better off paying a little extra and buying a modern v7. There are literally hundreds of parts available for them to put any style you fancy together. I know the bhp doesn't appear to be very high you'll find it's actually more powerful than the 1000cc spades and G5.

The dyno guys I use have an historic record of all the bikes they've had on the dyno. The most powerful old Guzzi they've seen is a heavily modified Le Mans that produces 58bhp at the wheel.

heres one up your street :D

cheers rob i have to be honest and say it might be the way to go for me ,when i had the new (ish) bonnie scrambler i really like it it did not have the character of the old bikes it was oiltight!!!!!!!!! and it suited me its was just a press and go .
so yes i think it may be a new(ish) v7 not to keen on any other models .

What about a V9 then (850 engine)? The only problem is they are still quite new so 2nd hand will be an issue. I keep looking at them and am sorely tempted. I think the basic bike is almost there for me and wouldn't take a lot to make it 'just so'.

its lovely but my limit is around £3500 max as i dont want to get in to it for a lot of many as it will probably sit in the garage unused so i dont mind having a small amount of money tied up in it , plus i need the extra cash for exhausts ,handlebars, seat, etc etc :D

TBH JD given, as you say, it won't have tooooo many miles put on it during the short period of time that you'll own it ;) I wouldn't worry too much about what Rob said. As long as your 'old' 850 round barrelled thing runs ok when you buy it it'l be fine for 'JD world', they really are pretty solid bikes.

You might consider spending less money on pug ugly boots, soon able able to afford the bike you want. :D

The tank on those is just wrong. Doesn`t fit the rest of the bike IMO.

I had a ride on one a couple of years ago. What a boneshaker, those stock shocks would need an upgrade.
