What would you do?

Also, be wary about y pieces (plenty of info on here about this issue) - again if you ditch the standard collector you are likely to make things worse (goodbye mid-range).

The BSM "Y" that BMWBoxerSupplies sells is a proper "Y" and works very well. Their BSM headers with balance tube will be the next bit that I buy to get rid of the Keihan headers that I have.
I already have the BSM silencer.

I'm happy to keep the bike somewhere close to original and certainly not looking for a high performance engine, just a little more useable power. I was looking at the Moorespeed high comp pistons which he says will give an 18% increase on their own. So trying to get the full benefit from these pistons I was just wondering whether head work, foam airfilter and/or a different exhaust would allow a little more power to be released. Bearing in mind that my current collector box has been cut open to remove loose parts and the Sito silencer is rotten I felt the system described in this thread

was a good solution. Is there a stainless OE silencer or just the Keihin lookalike? At this stage I'll just service the cylinder heads and I'll stick with the paper filter. I may go for the Motorworks electronic bean can just for reliability.

There is no play at the rear wheel, everything is very smooth when rotated by hand. The oil comes out clean with the mearest amount of sludge on the magnet. I use an 80w90 GL5 spec. oil. The bevel box is warm to the touch after a run.

I'm still unsure whether to rebuild the gearbox as a precaution or not.

I put an HE 320mm disc on my Mono G/S and have never regretted it. I had to fit a Telefix fork brace shortly after as I could feel the forks bending under heavy braking. The two together have made a significant improvement though, as Cookie says, it's not comparable to the brakes of a modern machine.

The later paralevers (bull bar fitted bikes) had stainless silencers. I've been messing about with my PD, took the Keihin silencer off and fitted the standard stainless one - big difference and a big improvement. Sounds a lot better as well. I dare say they are stupidly expensive if they are still available.
