Whats the tyre Brand of choice?

I've just put anakee ii's on mine as M&P has them delivered for £119.
They replaced conti trails on my bike and although they are still fresh the feeling is much better.

That said cooper bmw has tourances drive in and fitted for £190

The opinion's of tyres are very much like arsehole's................everyone has one. Pick your own and find out. BTW just for the info :thumb I use PR3s just now and have just bought a set of PR4s for when the 3s are shagged.

Well, just ordered a set of PR4's for my GSA, being fitted tomorrow. Interested to see what they're like compared to the EXP's I've currently got (hopefully a lot better seeing as the rear is as square as a square thing!)

Further to the above, what pressures are people running on PR4's - these will be my first non-tourance on a GS?
Cheers

Just had my PR4's fitted with £35 cash back from Michelin which is nice.

Look very 'roady' - ruined my hardcore off-road God image :D

Hopefully will get them scrubbed in this weekend and see what they're like :)

.................My supplier showed me a new tyre on the market, Bridgestone Battleaxe Adventure A40.
Treat pattern was good, with very dep(sic) cuts, I got a good price and have gone with them along with Hutchy of the forum who was with me and doing the same trip.

Is the rear a dual compound tyre like the Tourance Next? I have those on my XT1200 and they grip very well, no chicken strips but then again I could melt the shoulder of an original Tourance on track. (Not so sure about the newer Chinese manufactured ones though). Around 3,000 miles on them so far and the rear is probably only half worn. The front however is wearing faster, unevenly and rather oddly. I think my love of hard riding on tight roads with the required heavy braking is taking its toll :D Do I care? Well maybe a little :)

I put my TKC-70s onto the wire wheels because they look just too butch for the alloys. They have a road profile but the treads really do look aggressive compared to Trail Attack or Tourance.

The alloys might get some PR4s for the winter.

Not sure about the dual compound thing.... But the old Battleaxe BT57 and BT58 tyres were dual compound. So I'm hoping the name Battleaxe may be the association with dual compound.

Sadly I'm in France in the car with the family, so can't get any feedback on mine.

But Hutchy ran a set of Tourance Next from this time last year, like myself and changed to the A40s on Friday with me (we got a good deal 😊)

He's texted to tell me his are now we'll run in and they are similar to the Tourance Next wet or dry, but seem quieter at motorway speeds. He actually prefers them over the Metzeler.

Just changed my Metzeler Tourance Next rear tyre for a Michelin Pilot Road 4 Trail. Quite a few places I spoke to (including BMW dealer) mentioned that the Tourance Next are not the tyre they used to be now they are made in China instead of Germany, and they recommend fitting an alternative brand.

I used National tyres in Barnsley town centre, cost £136 fitted. With Michelin doing £15 cash back on single tyres (£35 on two tyres) the cost was £121.

Much the same attitudes as all Fiats are crap (because they just are), the only good Skoda is a skip and Heidenau tyres are East German rubbish.

People conveniently forget that Pirelli (who own Heidenau) are now owned by the Chinese.

What happens when the Chinese make the right offer to family-owned Schaeffler AG who own Continental?

Just done 3000 miles on a new pair of Michelin PR4 Trails, very pleased with them, feel good and solid grip. Didn't rain, so got that pleasure to come. Dry french roads meant whole tread pattern got used! Not much sign of wear at all.

Not sure it matters (for the purposes of this discussion) who/where the owners of the company are - the significant point was the location of the factory (and by inference the sourcing of materials and labour/expertise).

Similar. Just back from a two up full luggage trip to the south of France where the Gorge Du Verdon gave them a good working over in 35 degree heat. Both edges feathered on the rear but not a hint of them giving up. I got mine fitted at the tyre shop next to Manor Cafe in Bellerby at £220 fitted to loose wheels, National Tyres in Northallerton wanted £270. I've had good experience with Conti Road Attack's but that was when they first came out and I think there is a new model now.

Fantastic tyre... But if you ride them hard... Not long life.. I get 2000 miles out of a rear ...

I just can't see this...completely at odds with my experience after 3000 miles...two up luggage there and back, two up doing 150-250 miles a day on hot french minor roads in between. Not sure what you mean by 'ride them hard', but your experience is a world away from mine.

My sentiments too - I have done about 3000 miles on the PR4,s and they look like new - I am not a slow rider and very rarely go from A to B on Motorways - did a 2 up 500 miler a month or so ago and they performed faultlessly, what the hell do you guys do to your tyres? Had Tourance before and got 8000 on the rear before it was starting to show signs of close to limit, I was impressed that it was worn all the way around the profile not squaring off at all. The front incidentally was OK for another rear (or a partial rear) but I wanted to swap as a pair to experience the PR4 potential.
