We took her up Bishop Hill in the Lomonds this afternoon (up the steep/maist direct route...I'm still trying to get my breath back ) and there was a light covering of snow. She was more interested in following her hunting instincts but I know what you mean aboot pups and snaw. She'll maybe act a bit dafter when the heavy stuff falls :thumb2

About 4 inches or more of the stuff here.

Needless to say there's been no gritter on the local roads here! The A7 around Gala was pretty treacherous this afternoon.

Nice to have a 4x4 in these conditions!

There's a light covering here.

Regarding sledge runners . . Surely its candle wax you use. I used to rub the metal down with emery then rub a candle over them.

We used to have great sledges (and lots of snow) when living in Germany in the late '50s.

Our current sledges are plastic so the old skills are being lost :blast

(the 'kids' are now 27 and 26 so I doubt they'll get much use this year. I'll need to wait for Grandchildren :D ).

Bob.

thank you Bob...........
the rest o' ye' :P:P:P:P:P

re one of my last txts.

even skis are WAXED except when seal skin is used for cross country to give a purchase in the snow. Now there is a manmade material to save the poor auld seal gettin the cauld.

I kent it was wax you used for the sledge. You simply grease it over the runners :thumb2.
