What product does the team recommend for cleaning the anodized rims on a GSA. Looking for something to take off the winter's brake dust and other crud.

Regards,
Richard

Try car shampoo and a plastic dish washing brush before you start on chemicals. WD40 is also good for getting stubborn muck off and making your spokes shiney :thumb2

Try a BMW car dealership and buy their wheel brush set and wheel cleaner.

Not cheap (typical) but I've had my brush set for 15+ years (and it's still as good as new).

Their wheel cleaner is a detergent (not acid based), it's safe on their very expensive car wheels and hasn't marked my 1150GSA wheels in four and a half years of use.

The brushes get in between the spokes and can reach all the surfaces of the hubs.

(It makes a good general bike cleaner too. Once you have the one litre pump bottle just buy the cleaner in four litre top-up quantity).

Be careful! I used a product that said it would not harm my anodised wheels - and it left me with milky white patches that I cant get rid of:mad:

Any chance of naming it so the rest of us don't have the same problem then?

I`d hazard a guess at Mucoff? I dilute mine with about 25% water and only have it on the bike for mere seconds.

Lots of WD40 and a toothbrush. The crap that builds up around the base of the spokes sets like concrete (muck-off and s-doc didn't seem to want to shift it), so you really need to let it soak in WD40, then agitate it with the toothbrush and wipe away with a clean cloth. Comes up a treat (been doing mine today to get rid of the winters build up). :thumb

White vinegar

White vinegar, £1.20 for 5 litres plus a toothbrush. Did mine last week, not anodised rims but worked as good as any 'brand name' degreaser, crud remover on my spoked wheels.

Try it, you'd be suprised:hide

Whatever you use, don't let Muc Off get anywhere near them. It shags the anodised coating good and proper.
