Nice portable water pump for the (German) fire brigade

Used to have a VW flat4 one dating from the 60s.
 
I believe the Japs did a similar thing in the 80s to stress test the CX500 engine, they used them as pumps in the paddy fields.


And just think, there are those that freak when someone mentions warming a GS up for a few mins or leaving it ticking over etc etc :D:D

Funny, I was just thinking that myself. Clearly another old wives tale of this 'ere parish... :bounce1
 
I had a look at their website : the engine has a cooling fan, and an oil cooler. Couldn't find pictures of the 'front' side though. Weight 167kg with full gas tank. Pumps 1000l/minute at 15bar, maximum 2000l/minute.

BMW boxers are being used in small aircraft too.
Great to see these engines doing other stuff. :thumb
