Okay so it's time to buy a new helmet. What are you going to spend your hard earned notes on?

Enduro - It has to be Arai Tour X3 Long Way Down surely (you sad git) or maybe the Shoei Hornet (for those that don't want to pose like Ewan and Charlie). Of course the brand afficonados have the option of the BMW Enduro but what about the new HJC IS Multi which does everything (including maybe come apart at the chin guard? Anybody got one?)

Flip Front - Money no object, must be a Schuberth, or a Shoei Synchrotec perhaps. What about a Caberg though

Full face - don't look right on a GS (does it)? So, what.......?

Okay so what are you wearing and what do you want?

What do you recommend (as long as you're not on commission)?:flag

Shoei Hornet. Lighter, better made and better ventilated than the Tour X - I've got both.

Tour X3 with Interphone Bluetooth wotsits fitted. I suffered a few years of discomfort with a System helmet.
Decided to go back to the ol' fave with the new bike but mebbe it's just my head is Arai shaped. :flag

Schuberth + Shoei

Have a S1 Pro for long journeys as it really is the quietest helmet around and a Shoei Multitec for round town and commuting, would not go to a peaked helmet as an only helmet option again !! but would be willing to try the AIROH S4 !!

Ah, but what colour...............................:blast

Just been in Pure TRIUMPH in Wellingborough today. Saw the Shoei Hornet and Multitech marked down to less than £300. Give them a ring. Maybe this post should be in the bargain section.

Given that Enduro helmets are too noisy and flip front helmets are heavy, leak, noisy and dangerous. I'd go for the full face every time :D

that looks a good deal just went to the open day in plymouth of senior whites growing empire and he wanted 377 for a shoei multitec :eek:so much for buy it in bulk, and there was a few comments on how expensive other stuff , we will see how long they last down here if they want to start dictating prices in the south west:flag

shoei

bought the hornet in grey best helmet iv ever had. lightweight and tight as a duck arse as far as water getting in. didnt fancy following the arai posse. cool helmet but done to death.:thumb:thumb:thumb

hope that helps and if not get ready to get wet and loud:flag

Tour X3 for me

Had a Shoei Hornet before that was also a good helmet but the Arai is more comfortable with Autocom fitted for my shaped head!

After using a System 5 for 12 months, just bought a Shoei Qwest full face. Super piece of kit, lightweight, nice fit for the 'rounder' head shape, and quiet. Fitted F4 intercom system without any problems. Worth looking at.

The AIROH S4 gets a real good right up and many think its better n lighter than the Tour X
i'm one of them.
had both.
prefer the Airoh - it is a tad lighter / feels a lot lighter .
more stable, less buffeting at speed (i'm 5'10", ride an Airhead with taller screen).
it's more comfy than the Arai - or maybe me heads just the wrong shape. :nenau
oh.... and it's way cheaper.

Have a Shoei XR1000, which needs replacing. Was going to go with XR1100. What advantage would X3 or Hornet have for me (mainly road driving, but going to start doing a little off road soon)?

Have looked at helmets several times and decided I couldn't see a reason to pay £300+ for Shoei, Arai, Schuberth etc.

The previous System 5 flip lock mechanism failed and I was lucky that my head wasn't in it at the time. I decided to steer clear of another flip front. I now have:-

1) Airoh S4 for the summer, but in the rain it's like having a built in shower as the vents don't close. £125.00. Excellent helmet.

2) HJC IS-16 for fast motorway trips and winter use. This also has a pinlock visor which seems to work well. On offer under £100. The only fault with the HJC seems to be noise, even with custom earplugs fitted. I think that it's mostly turbulent air getting under the helmet causing it. Otherwise great, well made, flip down sun visor and brilliant visor release mechanism.

I had been looking for a new helmet for a while after changing from a sports bike to the GSA, my old AGV Rossi lid looked strangely out of place on it?

Had looked at the Hornet and the Long way ones cos i like the enduro style but I was worried that it was all too predictable (especially the Long way one). Then one day I was browsing a website and long story short saw a video with a guy wearing quite a cool Icon enduro style helmet but slightly different at the same time.

(I dont work for Icon or the company who supply them before anyone asks!)

Unfortunately Icon are based in the states and aren't very popular in Europe (yet?). After a bit of searching I found that one UK based site did sell them. I decided to risk ordering one without trying it on (I know, terrible idea) but it arrived at the weekend and its a great fit, really comfy, quite quiet, visibility is excellent and looks the part.

Have to say for the price I paid it seems a bit of a bargain compared to the established brands and the quality of it seems to be excellent. Well worth a look if you fancy something a bit different.

I'm not sure if you are allowed to post a link to the UK site who supplied it or not? :nenau

You could always Google it like I did. Credit where its due though it arrived within a week as promised and delivery was free even though I live in Northern Ireland? so i would be happy to recommend them.:bounce1
