Which leather cleaner?

Was looking for a spirit based leather cleaner if anyone knows of such a thing

Then a leather food/restorer for treating again.

Anyone use such products?

I use Renapur (the stuff they sell you at all the shows). It's beeswax based, IIRC< but seems to have done an excellent job on my leathers, gloves, seat etc. Lasts for ages too...

After nearly 28 years, we decided to clean a leather three piece suite that had never been cleaned. I tried all sorts of leather preparations, some of which are shown above, but nothing would get the grime off. In the end I used Meguiar's Extra which is intended for grease removal from barbeques.

The pic above shows the result. Obviously you then need some leather cream whatever.

As a pure cleaner, good old saddle soap takes some beating, then you need a food, Connolly do some good stuff.

Moisturiser !

Good Quality soap , hot water , and a small nail brush.{imperial leather} the more moisturiser the better.
Then let it dry naturally.This is v Important ,otherwise it,ll
crack. Then Renapur. Renapur is not a cleaner.
You will find this to work.

Over on uk.rec.motorcycles a regular contributor, Paul Varnsverry, who is an expert in safety clothing[1], recommends Gliptone Liquid leather products. Apparently, some products can weaken the abrasion resistance of leather e.g. hand lotions.

[1] he tests clothing meets the makers' claims e.g. does it meet CE protection standards, do they use real carbon fibre etc.
