White Horse Historical Tour Sunday 11th May 2008

If you, or anyone else local(ish) to Reading want a hour or so on an "introductory" Byway session one evening, let me know :thumb2:

Will you post up details of this 'one hour' ride elsewhere or is it 'ad hock'? I'm usually going through the M4/M25 intersection around 5pm most days....

Oh - and are TKC's manditory?

Ad hoc. There are several easy Byways within 10 mins of me/M4 J11, that are ideal for the complete novice to fall off on ;)

No. Take a look at http://www.ukgser.com/forums/showthread.php?t=136271 - Yamaha TDM, BMW Rockster, Triumph Bonneville on road tyres, and we will be on less muddy tracks.
Of course, it'll be easier if it doesn't rain :)

Yes please

Clive,

I would like to take you up on your offer. I live near Basingstoke.

I have hired off-road bikes a few times but never had the confidence to take my GS off-road.

John

I'd like to join y'all on the 11th if there is still space.

Sounds like an ideal opportunity to meet and put some faces to names.

I'm a complete off-road virgin, but willing to give it a go.

Clive I'd have liked to have joined you on Monday, but to be honest I would be stretched getting there at a sensible time. Mondays are real bad days for me, I have late meetings that tend to go on and on. If you run any other short runs for noobs like myself, then I'd certainly be interested.

See ya'll on the 11th.

Cheers

sorry I wasn't able to make it this eve - too much homework - marking to do for tomorrow for school

Thanks Clive

I really enjoyed our ride around the byeways.

Thanks for the tips and advice it was just what I needed. See you on the tour in May.

John

How many....??

By my count looks like 23 so far... Sure that's how many there were last year.. The folks at the garage are going to love us lot...:augie

Looking good Clive..

Visit a few of the Historical sites/sights around Wiltshire.

Anyone else interested in tagging along ?

A 10.00am start at the Total filling station (which is the first one you see if coming into Hungerford from the M4)

Is there a max limit to the group or are you figuring on the more to be about to push/pull/drag the inevitable breakdowns/crashes from ditches/gullies/hedges the better

:hide

;)

And I've bought a new alarm clock, special like :thumb

Some people who have said they will be there, won't be, and some will/will not turn up on the day, because the weather is nice (or not).

If everyone is familiar with the drop-off system and abides by it - esp. not panicking and riding away from their marking point because the Tail end is taking longer than they think they ought to, the size of the group doesn't make much difference IME.

As I discovered last time, the only real difference it makes is that a few of the sights/sites have limited "safe" parking for large groups of bikes, so either I won't stop or I'll make up something else on the day :augie

Ah, hopefully you will remember to set it this time ;)
