I'm wondering what to do about balancing the rear wheel.
I guess there is a 'bracket' that bolts to the wheel to fit the spindle.
Can such a thing be made easily or bought?

First step is to mount the tyre with the two coloured dots on the sidewall next to the valve. Apparently the manufacturer puts these on the tyre to offset the imbalance created by the valve. Just leaves any imbalance in the rim to be dealt with..

Just about to do my first DIY change. Bought my bike (F700) new and the rear has no balance weights so am assuming it's not balanced from the factory.

When looking for a static wheel balancer, I did come across some adapters for an R1200/1150/etc on flea bay though - seemed to be quite readily available.

i just put the colored dot where the valve is ,and fit the tyres myself and never had a bother ,modern day tyres are not out of balance like what they were years ago.

Is it really necessary to balance the tyres on a tractor?

I change my own tyres, put the spot in the right place and that's near enough.

Judging by the answers posted i guess no one has read your question properly :D...

A spacing kit is available, i think it maybe available from machine mart.

I bought one of those Marc parnes balancing tool several years ago, used it to balance my 1100/1150 wheels, never owned a 1200,

Don't use it anymore, as we have a machine balancer at work now!

Anyone want to make me an offer?

Ah some little adapters, Found them now, Stupid phone searching now on a proper puter.

As nice as the Marc parnes look, A 100 dollars, Feck that I`ll have a quiet word with a guy at work an see if he can do something out of nylon.

Just gotta price all the kit an see if its worth doing my own or finding somewhere local, (Anyone recomend anyone in Norfolk?)

In all the years of fitting my own tyres, I've only ever needed two balancing. One front and recently the rear on the GS. Fronts are easy to do on the bike. The rear I took to my local ATS and they balanced it dynamically, for free

My front is positioned with the dots correct but still has loads of weights. Even the back is weighted up. Both are Metzeler Tourance. The modern steel weights are big and rust so look crap for all sorts of reasons.

I do the front and take time over getting it right. The rear just gets stuck on and ridden. If you've ever lost the balance weights off a front you'll know how much it vibrates at speed.

Ya don't balance the tyre.. you balance the wheel... both rotationally and dynamically.

Mine are simply cut from galvanised steel sheet so the edges rusted. But tyres are now dead so I'll look more carefully for the next set of weights

On 1200s, just take the rear wheel (only) to your local car tyre shop.

They will tell you it will not fit their dynamic balancer, so you then point out the hole in the middle.
Suddenly a light goes off in their heads and they realise they can balance it after all.
