Morning all
Little problem here. Our WiFi doesn’t reach the garage, and the phone signal is nil in there.
We have a router in the house which is a 2 band thing.
We also have 2 plug things to take a signal to the TV.
how can I get a WiFi signal in the garage ?

I would use a WiFi booster plug in the house to push the signal further - then use a repeater in the garage to make it more available in that location.

Should be about £20 per device - unless the distance from house to Garage is a significant distance.

I am on BT and I have a wifi extender in my outhouse which is 20 meters from main house/router and it works perfectly.

if you are already using powerline adapters for the TV, can't you get a 3rd adapter from the same maker to extend that network via the mains? I am assuming you have mains to the garage from the domestic supply.

Go with a deco mesh M5 system, you can add as many extending units as you wish. You don’t need to switch between networks as it becomes one giant network.

Buy it you’ll be happy out !

Started with 3 now have 5

I use one of these to get Wifi into my brothers calfing barn:

It's essentially a more powerful (but directional) wifi frequency receiver/transmitter. Point it at vaguely your wifi router, get the CPE210 logged into your wifi and it will rebroadcast it. Works up to about 200m away no issues.

I forgot to mention, it’s about 16mtrs to the front of the garage from the modem

@DJ123
that’s a possibility, I could put it in a bedroom between the garage and modem…it’s roughly half way.

@Pukmeister and Wessie.
Yes that could work. The things linking the TV are TP- link av1000, so perhaps another one with WiFi on it would work.

@Traffic893
Not really, it’s away from the house so would require a catenary

I use a powerline and old apple AirPort Express.

If I couldn’t use this, I would have ran a long Ethernet cable.

Ok. Been thinking about this. I’m wondering if I can get another power line thing, but with WiFi built in as I have 6 sockets in the ‘man cave’ so I’m not short of outlets.

about £30 on Amazon - any TP Link is compatible with other TP Link models - less if refurbished

You can try these £30 options, which I agree sometimes work. However, in your situation which sounds very similar to my brother's situation last year, it probably won't. So spend a bit more on a proven better option which I think the 3 box Deco is £109. You're choice.

as he has existing TP Link Powerline things running on the network it makes sense to extend that network to the garage for minimal outlay

Second a mesh system, I also use a Deco and find it a more reliable solution.

Additionally, there are security issues with power line adaptors

Just buy the Deco system I and Anthony suggested. It'll work perfectly and it's not difficult to set up or expensive.
Mesh is shit through certain walls though. So it may not be a better option.

My mesh system does not reach the garage, due to very thick walls, and the garage being detached.

If you have a new build made out of cardboard, it will work.

As there is with mesh, wifi, FTTC, etc. Just depends on how much effort someone wants to put into getting your stuff.

Ok, job done. Thanks for all the advice folks.
I ended up getting a range extender. I got a tp link one, put in the bedroom between the router and the garage, it gives a fairly strong signal in the garage.
Only minor problem was it took several attempts to connect it using the WPS button.
