Wilbur Suspension

Does anyone know if the units for a 2007 would trandfer to a 2008 if I upgraded later.

Does anyone know where else to buy Wilburs Suspension from other than Every Accessories?

They don’t reply to emails or answer the phone. Loath to hand over that sort of money to an organisation that you can’t get hold of!

Thanks in Advance.

Ordered mine (50mm lower) for my 07 GSA over the phone from EA. Very knowledgeable and helpful:thumb. Asked me if I was member of UKGSER as I was entitled to 10% discount (how many other retailers would offer, rather than wait to be asked?!). Suggested delivery would be around three weeks, when in fact it was less than two weeks. Top service and highly recommended:bow. BMW :spitfire could learn a thing or two about customer service from EA (but then again BMW could learn a thing or two about customer service from Vlad the Impaler:eek: - [at least you knew what to expect from Vlad :tears]).

Fitted them at the weekend - delighted. Now I don't feel that I'm about to end up under 250+ kilos of bike every time I pull up to a junction.

No doubt BMW will tell me that I've invalidated the warranty.....

I checked on that, they said that modifications don't invalidate the warranty unless you break something doing the modifications, and, somewhat obviously, the parts you fit are not covered by the warranty!

If you go for the Wilbers with the black springs, they look quite like the OEM shocks, apart from the preload adjuster (or rebound thingy if you have one).

Bollers to that..:D
Having spent THAT much money on it I wanted it to look different to stock !;)

Bought my Wilbers from John Gaskell at Revs/EA ( he also rebuilt my old Yamaha rear shock previously). A top bloke.

I was offered free set up but never got the chance to take them up on the offer and not likely now I'm working in Australia for the next 2 years.

Has anyone else had the free setup, if so how long did it take and what is the bike like afterwards?? I will most likely get my Wilbers rebuilt and then set up by Revs properly should I return one day.

Wilburs set up

I bought a second hand set of Wilburs from a guy on this site. I have to say that they are great. TBH I've forgotten how the originals felt now (its only been a month), but I know there was a huge improvement (its much closer to my old GSXR).

My question is on dynamic sag. I'm only a light guy (75kg, maybe nearer 80 kitted up approx 11 1/2 st), but I struggled to get enough dynamic sag on the front.

I was aiming for 1/3 travel, but even winding the preload right back to nothing I only got about 1/4. Is this normal, and should I be winding some more on (as I say its been a month since fitting, so I forget the details, but I don't remember there being a huge effect over the last few turns of preload)?

For info, the spring numbers are
Front 46/46-55-220
Rear 59/59-150-185

I gather that the numbers are the spring diameter (46/59 mm), compression rate (55/150 Nm/mm) and length (220/185 mm... Mine's a GSA, so these'll be shorter on a GS)

Is there anyone out there of a similar weight with Wilburs they bought for themselves who can check their settings? I think its just the spring rate that's important. (Oh and the numbers are printed on the side of the spring itself)

Anyhow I'm pleased with how the bike is feeling, but just wondering whether I could make it even better.

These guys http://www.reactivesuspension.com/aboutUs.html

sell Traxxion shock covers, 8" for rear, 7" for front. Can't recall what I paid, but it wasn't too much. Clip on with cable ties, keep the grot off.

Cookie gets the credit for this info BTW.

All done

Yahoooo...bloody hell these are good. All fitted, set up and new ILMBERGER CARBON FIBRE HUGGER fitted as well...trick that its. Thought it had the most solid fixing mehtod out of all of them out there.

The ride, at first felt a bit harsh but strangely swallowing up all the bumps. Now I have tweaked it a bit it's like riding a sports bike. Corners now...I am worried that I am now taking it beyond what the Metzlers can do and starting to rag the edges! Its like it's on rails...absolutely awesome and has blown me away. Totally different bike and very confidence inspiring.

Corners - brilliant try and catch me.

Straight ride - solid and no wondering. Takes bumps in its stride. Sleeping policemen taken at 50mph! No bother.

Junctions/Filtering – Solid. No wallowing or wondering.

Accelerating - now amazingly under control - back does not sink and front does not lift.

Pillion - just alter the ride hieght on the HYD control. Nothing else and works the same.

All round results....fecking whish I had brought these when the bike was new...Just superb.:thumb
